Drafted to the front by the Kursk military registration and enlistment office in 1941, after an accelerated release from a military school. He came to the front with the rank of junior lieutenant in the 47th Guards Cavalry Regiment of the 12th Guards Cavalry Division of the 2nd Ukrainian Front. He took part in the battles for Aga Batyr, he personally exterminated seven fascists and was awarded the medal "For Military Merit". It was there that on December 18 he was wounded and captured, but on the same day he managed to escape. He talked about how in the late afternoon a column of prisoners was stopped on the outskirts of a village near a well. As evening approached, the Nazis were in a hurry to take the prisoners away from the front line. Azeev and several other soldiers were near the haystack. They hid there. The Germans checked the stack with bayonets and left, fearing the approaching darkness. After waiting some more time, those who were hiding got out. It turned out that only two of the four survived. The second Red Army soldier left towards the front, and Azeev, after a severe concussion, felt very bad: his head was splitting from severe pain, and there was a continuous hum in his ears. He decided to sit out the night and look for his own in the morning. After some time, an elderly woman approached the well. Seeing the soldier, she said that there were no Germans in the village, and promised to return and pick him up. Soon she came with a wheelbarrow, put him there, covered him with brushwood and brought him home. She wanted to help the fighter, because all her relatives were at the front. A few days later he felt better, thanked the hostess and went to the front line. After this incident, in the lists of the unit, he was listed as missing, and a funeral came home to the Kursk region, in which the parents were informed that Azeev A. Ya. 1920, lieutenant of the 12th Guards Cavalry Division, died on 12/18/1942, was buried in the Ordzhonikidze region, Kursk region, Dydymkin farm. He returned to his unit, participated in the Soviet offensive in the North Caucasus, his division made an invaluable contribution to the liberation of Stavropol, Kuban and Don. The 12th Guards Cossack Cavalry Division was awarded the Order of the Red Banner. Alexander Yakovlevich, guard lieutenant, engineer platoon commander was presented for the award - the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree for the battles near the village of Valyava, where with his platoon he repulsed the enemy counterattack and destroyed up to 30 Germans, and in the Novo-Buda region he repulsed the enemy counterattack and 60 fascists, near the village of Pochapintsy, together with a platoon, destroyed 150 enemies and personally killed 9 fascists. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star. A very important event in his life is associated with this order. In January-February 1944, they smashed a strong enemy grouping surrounded by our troops in the Korsun-Shevchenkovsky area. The corps took part in the Jassy-Kishinev operation of 1944, surrounded and liquidated in the Chisinau region of 22 enemy divisions. There, performing a combat mission, the guard senior lieutenant Azeev A.Ya. went into reconnaissance. Having successfully completed the mission, the scouts returned to the location of their unit, but came under fire. On June 7, 1944, Azeev received a multi-splinter wound of his hand, was being treated in evacuation hospital No. 2470 in the city of Baku, and was declared unfit for military service. The left hand could not be saved. Numerous fragments shattered the bone and had to be amputated.
