Faces of war
Frolov Mikhail Ivanovich
Frolov Mikhail Ivanovich (11/12/1922 12/13/2005) When the Great Patriotic War began, Frolov MI was a cadet at the Naval School in Leningrad. In the autumn, the Nazi troops came very close to Leningrad, and soon the city was under siege. The cadets of the naval college, like all the residents of the city, heroically defended themselves from the enemy invasion. Winter in 1941 came early and was very frosty. The evacuation of institutions and people, primarily children, from Leningrad began. The only way to get out of the besieged city, albeit at great risk, was the so-called "road of life" on the ice of Lake Ladoga. The cadets of the naval school left the city on foot on skis. They marched about 20 km along the "road of life". Frolov continued his service on the Western Front, taking part in the construction of fortifications, the construction of crossings and pontoons, and participating in battles. After the war, Frolov M.I. graduated from the Higher Military Technical College. Kuibyshev (VVITKU) and continued to serve in the ranks of the Soviet Army. He finished his service with the rank of engineer-colonel. Frolov M.I. was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, the Order of the Patriotic War, the medal "For Military Merit", "For the Defense of Leningrad", "For the Victory over Germany", the jubilee medal "In honor of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade" and, already in peacetime, numerous medals for many years of impeccable service in the ranks of the armed forces. the forces of our Motherland.
