Khabarova-Rukhlova Vera Anatolievna

Rank: Red Navy. Type of troops: signal troops. Northern Fleet communications service radio operator. In June 1942, she volunteered for the signal troops of the Northern Fleet. Place of service: 516 communications center of the Northern Fleet. From the well-known dates of the formation of the Northern Military Flotilla: June 1, 1933 and the arrival of the first detachment of ships in the Arctic Circle - August 5, 1933, the events for the equipment of the Kola coast took place with amazing enthusiasm, characteristic of all our people - the creator of the 30s. May 19, 1933 is considered the day of creation of the Northern Fleet Communication Service. During the year, the first stage of observation and communication posts was deployed on the Kola coast, a communication center for the flotilla and the Kola region of the Observation and Communication Service (SNiS) was equipped. The number of naval personnel and coastal troops grew rapidly, the geography of their basing and use expanded, and the tasks of the Northern Flotilla became more complicated. In 1937, the flotilla was reorganized into the Northern Fleet, within which, in the summer of 1938, an observation and communications department was created under the leadership of Nikolai Ivanovich Tsvetkov. In the pre-war years, its other leaders made a great contribution to the creation and development of SNiS SF: V. Shchennikov, B. Krasnoselsky, N. Leontiev. Thanks to the selfless labor of the fleet's signalmen, by 1941 the SNIS service of the fleet was able to solve not only training, but also combat missions to ensure command and control of forces and troops. Vera Anatolyevna, a radio operator, came to the Northern Fleet as a young girl. She and other girls were taught in a training group in Solovki, then in the city of Kem. Subsequently, a detachment of radio operators (8 girls) worked in Olenyaya Guba and in the city of Polyarny. In 1943 they were transferred to the fishing village of Mishukovo. The radio operator Rukhlova (Khabarova) still remembers his comrades - V. Zabuldashkin, Kimolton, A. Dmitriev. During the Great Patriotic War, signalmen provided control of submarines, surface ships and aircraft in combat operations to disrupt enemy transport operations, to protect their communications, when escorting allied convoys, in organizing amphibious and antiamphibious operations on the Kola coast. The largest final event in the Northern Fleet's combat activities was the Petsamo-Kirkineskaya operation (Operation West), during which the forces of the fleet together with the troops of the Karelian Front in October 1944 liberated the Soviet Arctic from the Nazi invaders. For the successful conduct of the operation, by order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief IV Stalin, the communications officers of the Northern Fleet were commended. Currently, Vera Anatolyevna lives with her husband, Sergey Andreevich Khabarov, in Moscow.
