In 1941, when the Nazis were inexorably moving east, and the scattered Russian units desperately resisted and died in the thousands in the meat grinder of the eastern front, the Abwehr's bloodhounds recruited hundreds of Soviet citizens in the frontline zone. At the same time, they did not hesitate to use adolescents as informants. The payment for such cooperation, despite the child's age, was too high. The war did not spare anyone. Usually, the detained teenagers ended up in prison, and those who were older were shot. One day in the autumn of 1941, while at the location of her hospital, Olga Nikiforovna heard from one of the officers that a boy named Dudkin Kronid was among the detainees. That was the name of Olga Nikiforovna's brother. One can only guess what Olga Nikiforvna experienced when she learned that Kronid was detained. According to her, only one thought was beating in my head - "for what?". She knew firsthand the methods of work of the Soviet counterintelligence and the doom of the fate of her young brother was beyond doubt. Then Olga Nikiforovna took a desperate step - she turned to the command of the NKVD regiment, stating that the detained Dudkin Kronid was her brother. The history of those years knows many cases when such attempts to save a person ended tragically for both. It was extremely rare in wartime to figure out who was a traitor and who was not. Each of the military commanders was pressed by the burden of danger to fall into a wolf's trap, so no one listened to the pleas of the young nurse. In this seemingly hopeless situation, Olga Nikiforovna was able to convince the command that her brother Kronid was not a traitor, but was detained in the front-line zone, since he wanted to get to the front and share the fate of other soldiers who fought against fascism. At that moment Kronid was a little over 14 years old and for obvious reasons he was denied the call. So Kronid decided to decide his own fate. They believed her and the boy was released. Olga Nikiforovna went through the entire war and carried dozens of soldiers and officers from the battlefield on her shoulders. Olga Nikiforovna died on November 13, 2012, but her feat should not be forgotten.
