Ivan Pyatykh was born in 1922 in the Ryazan (now Lipetsk) Region, Ranenburgsky District, the village of Krivopolyanye in a large peasant family._x000D_ Ivan was drafted into the Red Army by the Ranenburg District Military Commissariat of the Ryazan Region in December 1941. He received military training, and from February 1942 took part in combat operations as a private of the 74th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 25th Guards Sinelnikovo-Budapest Red Banner Order of Suvorov and Bogdan Khmelnitsky Rrifle Division._x000D_ The 74th Guards Rifle Regiment in February 1943 began to break into the rear of the enemy's Kharkov group to encircle it. In these battles, Private Ivan Pyatykh proved to be an observant and brave shooter. The enemy launched a counteroffensive in the Kharkov direction in March._x000D_ In a heavy and bloody fighting Ivan was seriously wounded in the leg and was sent to the hospital. In the fierce battles on the South-Western Front with the German-fascist invaders, for heroism and courage shown in the battles, Ivan Pyatykh was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree. Ivan was treated in the hospital._x000D_ The medical Commission found him unfit for military service in February 21, 1944. He was discharged on March 2, 1944 and return home. He worked as a foreman of Civil Defense. He worked honestly, selflessly, and enjoyed respect and authority among his colleagues. Guardsman of the front became a guardsman of the rear. Times were hard, but people lived together, looked forward to Victory with hope, and met it on May 9, 1945 with tears of joy and bitterness of loss. After the war, in 1946, Ivan got married. Soon a son, Nikolay, was born, and two years later, in 1948, a daughter, Lyuba._x000D_ The post-war period was hungry. But the family lived happily, in respect and love for each other. But this happiness was interrupted by Ivan’s unexpected death. He died from a serious injury received from a cart that overturned on him in 1955._x000D_ The heroic life of Ivan Pyatykh, as well as many Russian people who defended our Homeland from the German invaders, will forever remain in our memory and their feat will be a moral guideline of our life.
