HISTORY: Ivan Ilich Ponikarov was born on January 28, 1928 in the village of Ulyankovo, Apastovsky district of the Tatar Republic. War 13-year-old Vanya met in the far East. The entire Ponikarov family was exiled from Tatarstan due to dekulakization. The mother died early, and the children stayed with their father. In the first years of the war, Ivan Ponikarov continued to work as a gold miner in the mines. In the 9th grade, he did not go, took a year and went to the Soviet Army. In November 1944, he received a summons to the army. Before 1945, there was no war with Japan, America was fighting with it, there were constant battles at sea. War was declared on Japan three months after Victory Day. To fight the Kwantung army, Soviet troops were transferred from the West, who were at war with Germany, they formed the first echelon of the offensive, and young far Eastern fighters entered the second echelon. Ivan Ilyich participated in the liberation of China, North Korea, South Sakhalin, and the Kuril Islands. During the war, Ponikarov was a light machine gunner and was awarded the orders "for the victory over Japan", "Patriotic war II degree" and 17 medals. After the end of hostilities, he was transferred from the rifle regiment to the newly formed separate marine battalion on southern Sakhalin. He was demobilized only in 1951, and graduated with honors in 1956 from the Kazan Institute of chemical technology. For 25 years, Professor Ponikarov headed the Department of machines and apparatuses of chemical production at KNRTU-khti. On March 25, 2016, Ivan Ilyich died.
