Ball was wounded three times: in October 1941, in February 1942, in December 1944. The last wound was received in Latvia near the Garakas farm. In front of the rifle regiment. which included the battalion of I.Z. the task was set to knock the enemy out of their positions, in the strip of which there was a height that dominated the location of our troops. After the artillery preparation, at the appointed time, Aleksandrov's battalion went on the offensive. Having wedged into the depth of the front line about two kilometers, the battalion took the height. But from the flanks, the battalions were unable to break through the enemy's line of defense and remained at their former positions. Thus, the battalion of Alexandrov I.Z. was cut off from his own. The Germans, not wanting to put up with the loss of a very advantageous position for themselves, rained fire on the battalion with all types of weapons, and then one attack followed more violently than the other. The continuous attacks of the Germans against the battalion continued for five days. A tank-self-propelled regiment was transferred to the aid of the Germans from another sector of the front. This became known from the testimony of a captured tanker. On the fifth day, leading the soldier in a counterattack, Aleksandrov I.Z. was wounded in the arm, but did not leave the battlefield. On the sixth day, with the help of the reserve that had arrived in time, the regiment broke the enemy's resistance, and Aleksandrov I.Z. was awarded the Order of the Red Banner. He met the victory in Czechoslovakia with the rank of major. He died in 2004.
