Andreenkov Nikolay Nikonovich
CITY: village Krasatinka DATE OF BIRTH: 12/18/1918 DATE OF DEATH: 04/19/1968 HISTORY: Born on December 18, 1918 in the village of Krasatinka, Oktyabrsky village council, Krasninsky district, Smolensk region. He lost his parents early. After graduating from 5 classes of the Nedvizh seven-year school, Nikolai began to work on the Kirov collective farm. At the age of 17 he became the best foreman. In 1939, Nikolai was called up to serve in the Red Army, where he served as a chauffeur in an artillery regiment, then completed courses for junior lieutenants and received the rank of junior lieutenant. From March 1943 - commander of a reconnaissance platoon of the 270th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 89th Guards Rifle Division of the 37th Army of the Steppe Front. On September 28, 1943, Andreenkov, as part of his platoon, crossed the Dnieper near the village of Keleberda, Kremenchug District, Poltava Region, Ukrainian SSR. “The units of the Soviet Army that had reached the Dnieper, without waiting for the arrival of the sapper units, crossed the river with improvised means and entered the battle for the right-bank bridgeheads. The first to cross the Dnieper in this sector in the guards regiment was Lieutenant Nikolai Andreenkov. With a group of intelligence officers, he captured a small strip of the coast and entrenched himself in hastily dug trenches. Only eight fighters were with him at the bridgehead, but they decided to fight to the end. The soldiers understood that the success of the crossing of the river by all divisions of the regiment depended on their fortitude and courage. The Nazis dropped hundreds of shells and mines on a handful of brave men, and then, near a battalion of infantry with tanks and automatic rapid-fire cannons, they launched an attack. Guard Lieutenant Andreenkov lay down behind a heavy machine gun and with accurate fire did not allow the Nazis to approach the intelligence offiser’s' positions. The enemy sent a tank ahead. Hiding behind his armor, a group of fascist machine gunners in short dashes moved to the shore. The intelligence officers prepared grenades, but the tank stopped a hundred meters away and opened fire from a cannon. Remaining invulnerable, he could destroy all the defenders of the bridgehead. Fighter Gorelov took an anti-tank gun and crawled towards the Nazis. Choosing the moment when the tank turned to him with its side armor, he knocked him out with a well-aimed shot, and the crew, leaving the car engulfed in flames, was destroyed from the machine gun. Having lost up to 40 soldiers and officers, the invaders retreated to their starting lines. But the respite was short-lived. Again, guns and mortars began to hit the bridgehead, several dozen submachine gunners went on the attack. - Guardsmen, not a step back! - shouted Lieutenant Andreenkov. His machine gun mowed down the Nazis, not allowing them to concentrate for the last throw, and when the Nazis managed to get close to a distance, he used grenades, and the enemy rolled back. Under the cover of fire from scouts, rafts and boats with Soviet soldiers began to cross the Dnieper, and soon battles for expanding the bridgehead began on the right bank. Fierce battles did not stop for two days. The Nazis, convinced of the futility of their efforts to throw our soldiers into the river, went on the defensive. More than 100 fascist soldiers and a large amount of weapons remained on the battlefield in front of the positions of the heroes-scouts. " Based on the book by M. Vorobyov, V. Titov, A. Khrapchenkov "Smolyans-Heroes of the Soviet Union". By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR for the courage shown during the crossing of the Dnieper, on December 20, 1943, Guard Lieutenant Nikolai Nikonovich Andreyenkov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union. For his courage in battles he was awarded the Orders of Lenin, the Red Banner and the Red Star. In January 1944 N.N. Andreenkov was wounded and shell-shocked. After recovering, he was sent to refresher courses for command personnel. After completing the courses, he worked at the Krasninskiy district military commissariat. In August 1946, Andreenkov N.N. demobilized and worked in the Krasninsk regional executive committee. In 1959 he moved to Crimea for permanent residence, lived and worked at the state farm "Predgorie" of the Belogorsk district of the Crimean region. Tragically died on April 19, 1968 at the age of 49.
