After completing the seven-year period, Nikolai entered the Vorkuta Mining College as an electrical engineer. But he studied for only 8 months. I got sick and had to return home. After the recovery, the director of MTS Vokuev Akim Nikitich invited him to work as a mechanic at MTS. There was an acute shortage of men, and a 16-year-old boy took up this difficult job. A year later, Nicholas was drafted into the army. This was the last military draft. From Bakur and Varysh, Efim Nemchinov, Vasily Arteev, Dima Kolodeshnikov, Stepan Terentyev were called together with him. They were sent to Irayol on foot. Nikolai Mikhailovich recalls: “When we reached Irael, we were told that German prisoners of war were working on the railway tracks. We specially went to look at them. All of them were in summer clothes, it was felt that they were freezing. " For several months Nikolai studied at the Vologda Aviation School of Communications and on March 1 he was sent to the active army. Together with the marching company, he arrived at the airfield in Belarus, where the 22nd Air Division was based. In total, the division had 54 TU bombers, and the regiment had 27. Fighters were also based here. He worked in the communications center of the headquarters of the assault aviation division. Reconnaissance was one of the main tasks of the attack aircraft. Signalers decoded the reports of the pilots and passed them on to the headquarters, constantly kept in touch with the bombers that flew out to bomb enemy fortifications and communications. The end of the war found a young soldier in Poland, at the Poznan field airfield. After the victory, he was sent to Moscow, to the communications center of the Air Force headquarters. During the defeat of militaristic Japan, he served the troops in the Khabarovsk direction, and then until 1951 - military parades, exercises of troops. I often had to go on business trips. Nikolai Mikhailovich remembered flights to Amderma, Belarus, Azerbaijan. In recent years he worked on an American teletypewriter. For more than 7 years he served in the military aviation. He was demobilized with the rank of corporal in November 1950. After demobilization and until his retirement in May 1982, he constantly worked in the Mokhchen MTS. In 1971, for his shock work, Nikolai Mikhailovich was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, and in 1977 he was awarded the high title of Honored Worker of the Komi ASSR. Nikolai Mikhailovich lived with his wife Matilda Vasilievna for over 50 years. They have three children: daughters Nadezhda and Lyubov, son Ivan.
