In October 1956 units of the 11th Guard with the red banner of Rivne, command of the Suvorov Division, as well as the 100th tank regiment of the 31st tank regiment with the red banner of Vistula, command of Suvorov and the division Bogdan Khmelnitsky took part in the events in Hungary. In 1957 the 8th mechanized army, to which the division belonged, became known as the 8th Panzer Army.
