Kravchenkov Fedor Yakovlevich
Military rank is Sergeant. My great-grandfather Kravchenkov Fedor Yakovlevich was born on 14 August 1926. He was called up for the war in 1943 and went to the regimental school, where he received the rank of Sergeant. Until he was 17, he trained recruits. After the regimental school, he went to the front in intelligence under the command of Marshal Zhukov. Great-grandfather was a hereditary don Cossack-desperate and very brave. And also, as he said about himself - reckless and risky. A very young man, he didn't even think about death then. He defended his homeland and remembered that his father and two older brothers died not far from their home. Intelligence service required to be on the ball. That was my great-grandpa. Once being on an intelligence mission, he managed to go to the rear of the Germans. Alone, he destroyed a platoon of fascist soldiers in a dugout, which is about 20-25 armed fighters. For his heroism, my grandfather was awarded the first award - the Order of Glory Third degree. This happened in early 1944. After that, he participated in the crossing of the Oder River by Soviet troops. It was then that he received one of the most difficult tasks: to get behind the enemy's back and mark the enemy's firing points. Once on the spot, he realized that he could only complete the task by calling fire on himself. There was no time to think. So, as a boy, he called fire on himself and performed his second feat. Miraculously, he survived, but was severely wounded and shell-shocked. For this feat, he was awarded the Order of Glory Second degree. So my great-grandfather went through the war and all the way to Berlin. In conducting further military operations were awarded medals "For Courage", Order of the Patriotic War Second degree and in the capture of Berlin for courage and heroism was promoted to the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union. But due to a serious injury, then the award did not find its hero. After being wounded, he was sent to the city of Berlin and served in the commandant's regiment until 1947, helping to restore order in the destroyed Berlin. The photo shows him at this time. After demobilization, he returned to his native collective farm and worked for the good and prosperity of our country. My great-grandfather died a long time ago, he left seven children and our family still remembers him as a real hero. God grant my generation to be such patriots of their homeland, as our great-grandfathers have been.
