Kleshnin Nikolay Sergeevich
Born on 28.04.1925 in Noviki in Korenisko district of Mari ASSR. On 01.01.1943, at the age of 17 called by Eshkolitsky district military Commissariat up. According to the official sources, in the period from September 1943 to January 1945, he served as a telephone operator in the 120th mortar regiment, which was a part of the 5th separate mortar brigade on the Volkhov's frontlines. 5th mortar Novgorod red banner of the order of Alexander Nevsky brigade is well known for the fact that since July 16, 1944 pursued the enemy by its fire, continuously supported the 7th and 123rd rifle corps, ensured the breakthrough of enemy defenses to the south from Ostrov. Operating in the infantry battle formations for all this period, regardless of the blown up roads, bridges, the brigade successfully performed the combat tasks, crossing rivers on rafts, bypassing fords. So Blue and False rivers were crossed. The brigade dispersed and destroyed the enemy's manpower up to 1,200 soldiers and officers, repelled 10 counterattacks. The regiments of the brigade took an active part in the battle for Kalinkino, during the breakthrough of the defense and on the middle boundaries of Vysh-Gorodok, Vilaka, Lyepna. On July 31, the brigade fought at Malupe station, where the enemy held back the Soviet infantry. On April 21, 1945, the brigade fired its first salvo in Berlin and, together with advanced infantry units, broke into the outskirts of the city. The Act №2 of January 24, 1946 was published in open sources and said: "Today I, the commander of the first Brest Mortar brigade named after the Order of Kutuzov and Alexander Nevsky, Colonel Virkalov S.A., awarded the medals "for the CAPTURE of BERLIN" the staff of the brigade units and divisions in accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 9, 1945, namely...". Senior Sergeant Kleshnin Nikolay Sergeevich is in the list of awardees under 55th number. In another public document- the order No. 07-n of May 5, 1945 - it was said concerning the 120th mortar regiment of the 5th Novgorod red banner brigade of the 1st Belorussian front named after the order of Alexander Nevsky: "on behalf of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, I award the medal "for bravery"...to the Signalman of the 2nd division control platoon, senior Sergeant KLESHNIN Nikolai Sergeevich, for his feat in Berlin on April 28, 1945, when he despite of the heavy machine-gun and mortar fire of the enemy, fulfilled the task of the command in an exemplary manner. In 20 minutes, he connected the command observation post with the division headquarters and made possible to open fire and destroy the enemy up." The order was signed by the Chief of staff, captain Sergeev. Nikolai Kleshnin was also awarded the order of the Patriotic war of the II degree, the medal "for military merit". At the end of the great Patriotic war, Nikolai Kleshnin continued to serve in the active army, graduated from the school of sergeants. From May 1946 to April 1947 he served as a squad leader in the 64th guards mortar Svir Red banner regiment of the rocket artillery, from April 1947 to June 1950 - as a commander of Communications Department of the 65th heavy mortar regiment. Retired in June 1950 with the rank of "senior Sergeant". Nikolai Sergeevich and his family came to Boguchansky district in 1979. Then Nikolai Sergeevich had been living in the village of Manzya for a long time, working in Kaulets chemical farm. In 1992, he moved to Nizhneteryansk to live with his son. On his cemetery monument in Nizhneteryansk, it is indicated that the front-line soldier died in June 1993.
