Kapkin Vasily Alekseevich
Vasily Kapkin's military career began in September 1939, when he, a soninsky boy, and 70 other conscripts from Lukoyanovsky district were sent to serve to the far East. There was fighting with Japan. While they were getting there, the fighting ended. Vasily was sent to the 76th border squad for the service on the banks of Amur river, while 1941 arrived. The 102nd far Eastern rifle division was formed from the border guards. Fierce fighting began. The machine gunner Kapkin conducted his first battle with the Nazis outside the city of Yelets. There he got his first injuries. After the hospital, he was sent to a tank school near Moscow. Four months later, the driver Vasily Kapkin became a crew member of t-34 tank in the 76th tank division (1943). The Division moved with the fighting, liberating Leningrad region and the Baltic republics. Near Nevel, tanks moved under the heavy German artillery fire. Kapkin's tank was hit. Vasily Alekseevich began to get out of the tank through the hatch, but the German machine gunners kept the tankers at gunpoint. The radio operator, gunner and tank commander were killed, while Vasily, wounded in the leg, managed to get out of the tank and crawl away. The battle escalated. The wounded driver was picked up by the tankers of the next battalion. And then there was the hospital. As a result of severe injuries and concussion, tankman Kapkin was demobilized and returned to his native village. He was awarded the order of Glory of the 3rd degree, the Patriotic war of the 1st degree and the medal for Bravery. In peacetime, Vasily Alekseevich worked well for the benefit of his collective farm. Awards for peaceful labor were added to the Military awards – the order of Lenin, the Badge of Honor, the medal "for valiant labor". For a long time he worked as a foreman of a tractor brigade in Sonino. And every year the team achieved high performance. V. A. Kapkin, a Communist, was always distinguished by the fact that he always treated the tasks assigned to him with the great responsibility and was a demanding leader. Integrity - that's what helped him in his work. He always believed in his comrades, realizing that only faith in them, in their dedication, in their firm male shoulder, can solve the most difficult cases. Until the last days of his life, he was active in the public work.
