Gergel Dmitry Terentyevich
DMITRY TERENTYEVICH GERGEL - a hereditary Cossack, a native of the Krasnodar territory, a father of 10 children, a jack of-all-trades, went through the entire war, despite shrapnel wounds to the head and lung, which caused such an early death. He was a participant in the battle of Krivoy Rog on the Belarussian front, where he was wounded in the head. He had orders and medals, which, alas, did not reach us – grandchildren (he did not forbid his children to play with them). He was so noble (the Cossack blood probably affected him) that when the order came for him to be awarded the order, he said: "My reward will find me everywhere!"- and remained sitting quietly on a stump polishing the star on his cap, and his friend, having polished his boots, went to get his order at the headquarters, located 200 meters from their trench. Grandfather saw with his own eyes, as a friend went up on the porch of the headquarters and at this moment... - a direct hit and from the headquarters only the funnel was left… My grandfather was very fond of children, and children loved him. He was very hardworking and always said: "A real man should have 1000 and one profession, and all of them will be useful to him in life!». When at his job the colleagues collected a ruble from each one for a drink, he usually paid them 2 times more and went home, to his wife and children, buying them gingerbread on the way... Such a man was my GRANDFATHER - kind, calm, caring, hardworking and courageous... My GRANDFATHER IS my PRIDE!!! THANK YOU, MY DEAR GRANDPA, FOR WHAT I AM!!! And thanks to my grandmother Gergel (Bezuglova) Vera Efimovna, who did not get enough sleep, did not eat enough, worked like a "horse" to have Victory day as soon as possible, to save and raise children – to raise them as worthy people... MY DEAR FAMILY, I AM SO MUCH GRATEFUL TO YOU !!!
