Bazuev Alexander Ivanovich

Alexander Ivanovich Bazuev was born on the 5th of August, 1922, his personal number no. is A-181393, Dudkino village, the Moscow region. In 1940 he finished the 10th form of high school, the Factory school and the Stalinogorsk aero club. He was enlisted in the armed forces of the USSR on the 27th of December, 1940, as a cadet of the Voroshilovograd Military Aviation school of pilots in Uralsk and graduated in December 1943. He served as a pilot until April 1944. On the 16th of April, 1944, he was enlisted in the 2nd Baltic front as a pilot, senior pilot, flight commander and served as the commander of the aviation squadron of the 825th assault aviation regiment of the 225th assault aviation Riga division of the 15th air army in the rank from a junior lieutenant to a senior lieutenant until April 1945. An extract from the award list dated the 4th of February, 1945: "during his service in the 825th AAR comrade Bazuev made 79 successful operational flights. 52 successful flights were made by him on IL-2 aircrafts. Comrade Bazuev was awarded two orders of the Red Banner and an order of the Red Star. Since the moment of awarding comrade Bazuev made 27 successful mission flights leading the group to attack the enemy's manpower and equipment. Performing a combat mission, his daring stormtrooper carried away his wingmen, instilling in them audacity, resourcefulness and fearlessness in battle. During four months Bazuev has been performing the duties of the air squadron commander, during this period his squadron made 799 successful military flights to attack enemy firing positions, equipment and manpower amd managed to destroy at the same time: 156 cars, 27 field artillery guns, 29 air defense artillery guns, 2 special vehicles, 117 carts with cargo, 2 warehouses, 5 railway cars, 1115 soldiers and officers. Comrade Bazuev brought up twenty pilots who smash the enemy with undisguised hatred and who are careless of their lives for the Motherland. Comrade Bazuev himself is a master of assault attacks and is ready to perform any combat mission at any moment." On the 1st of April, 1945, the 2nd Baltic front became part of the Leningrad front. My grandfather was transferred to the 810th assault aviation regiment of Rezhitsk of the 225th assault aviation Riga division of the 15th air army as a flight commander in the rank of a senior lieutenant until the 9th of May, 1945. An extract from the award list dated the 11th of May, 1945: "Since the moment of the award comrade Bazuev made 26 successful flights to attack enemy firing positions, equipment and manpower as a leader of the group. On the 7th of May, 1945, interacting with ground troops when breaking through enemy defenses in the area of the Grenchi, comrade Bazuev flew as deputy leader of the group comprised of 12 Il-2 aircrafts. Skilfully maneuvering in the zone of the enemy’s air-defense artillery comrade Bazuev chose targets and provided great assistance to the group leader in controlling the battlefield. In this battle he personally destroyed 1 gun of air-defense artillery, 1 cart and 3 enemy soldiers, which is confirmed by captain Shcherbachenko, major Chernyavsky. On the 8th of May, 1945, comrade Bazuev made 3 flights as the leader of groups of 6-8 aircrafts. When making the third combat flight to attack the retreating enemy troops and equipment in the area of Kandava comrade Bazuev found a cluster of enemy vehicles and horse-drawn vehicles. Skilfully leading the group, comrade Bazuev destroyed a lot of equipment and manpower of the enemy, in this battle he personally destroyed: 2 cars and 5 enemy soldiers, which was confirmed by junior lieutenant Voronkov, junior lieutenant Stryukov." For the courage and bravery shown on the battlefield and skilful leadership of the group comrade Bazuev is worthy of the Government award of the order of the Red Banner. For the period of stay in the front of the Patriotic war since the 16th of April, 1944, comrade Bazuev flew 105 combat missions. For 79 combat missions he was awarded the orders of the Red Star, Alexander Nevsky, three orders of the Red Banner and many medals. He personally destroyed: 55 cars, 8 field artillery guns, 16 air-defense artillery guns, 66 carts with cargo, 7 bunkers, 383 enemy soldiers and officers. My grandfather participated in the main Victory Parade in Moscow. After the Second World War my grandfather continued to serve in the squadron in the following positions: senior pilot from June 1946 till July 1949; flight commander from July 1949 till March 1952; deputy squadron commander from March 1952 till December 1958; squadron commander from December 1958 till the 11th of August, 1960. On the 1st of September, 1959, he was awarded the military rank of major of the military air forces of the Soviet army. On the 1st of May, 1951, his son Valery Bazuev was born; on the 8th of November, 1955, his daughter Natalia Bazueva was born. On the 29th of December, 1972, his grandson Bazuev Dmitry Valeryevich was born; on the 21st of September, 1976, his granddaughter Belyakova Elena Sergeevna was born; on the 9th of August, 1991, his granddaughter Kokina Alexandra Nikolaevna was born; on the 8th of November, 1995, his great-granddaughter Bazueva Anastasia Dmitrievna was born; on the 15th of July, 2004, his great-grandson Bazuev Maxim Dmitrievich was born.
