Birleva Tatiana Abramovna

Tatyana Abramovna Birlew was born in 1916 in the town of Snow the Stalin region. Ukrainian SSR, in the family of a miner. Member of the Komsomol since 1934, Russian, secondary medical education. After graduating from the Chistyakovskaya medical school, she worked as a nurse at the Paibud hospital. She studied well, was the Secretary of the Komsomol organization of the medical school, in the hospital she was also elected Komsomol leader. She was also elected as a Deputy of the Krasnaya Zvezda district Council. In 1942, she became a member of an underground organization (partisan). While on the territory temporarily occupied by the Germans, Tanya took an active part in the work of an underground organization. It was she who organized the escape of prisoners of war from a concentration camp located in the village of Shakhty, not far from her home. It was she who crossed the front line twice, delivered to the red Army command 27 thousand rubles collected from the population of the village in the defense Fund, and passed on valuable information about the location of enemy forces. And how cleverly Tanya Birlea and I. Zhuravlev prepared escape of Soviet POWs from Nazi camps! Recalls M. Zhuravlev: "Prisoners of war came to our yard accompanied by Germans to take water. To distract the fascists, Tanya took a guitar and sang funny ditties. Meanwhile, my father was talking to prisoners of war. When the conversation ended, Tanya announced an interval of one and a half to two hours. So, others will come, and you need to have the same conversation with them. So the prisoners were told how best to get to the forest, where to find clothes to change and how to safely cross the front line." Dozens of prisoners of war were saved by underground workers. On June 12, 1942, during the next crossing of the front line, she was intercepted by the Nazis near the village of Dmitrievka and was taken to the military field commandant's office. She was found with several thousand rubles contributed to the defense Fund by the population of Chistyakovo, and a secret report that she did not have time to destroy. Despite the sophisticated torture, the Nazis did not get any information from her. On June 25, 1942, Tanya was shot by the Nazis. The name Tanya Berlevag is one of the streets of Torez (DND).
