Vladimir Butylkin

Rank: Sergeant. Branch of Service: Army, Air Force (except Naval Aviation), Coast Guard, NKVD troops, Border Troops. Duty station: 29th Yelninsky Red Banner Order of Suvorov Guards Rifle Division. Our family carefully keeps the medals For Bravery and For the Victory over Germany, because they are the memory of the exploits of a soldier who was my great-grandfather Vladimir Butylkin. He went to war when he was 18 years old. There are documents that great-grandfather a mortar man in the 29th Guards Rifle Division and participated in battles and military campaigns from September 1943 to May 1945, until Victory Day. According to my grandmother, his daughter, Sergeant Major V. Butylkin it was not only necessary to shoot a mortar at the enemy in battle, but also during military campaigns to carry a heavy mortar on yourself. From the history of the Great Patriotic War, it is known that the 29th Guards Rifle Division in 1943 took part in the Rzhev-Vyazma operation, liberated Gzhatsk. In the Yelninsky-dorogobuzhsky operation it liberated Yelnya. Vladimir took part in the Rezhitsko-Dvina offensive, during which the division liberated Opochka, Ludza, Rezekne and Daugavpils. During the Madona and Riga operations, his division was the first to break through the enemy's defenses and took part in the liberation of Riga. After the war, my great-grandfather often had a headaches, because he was twice concussed in 1943 and 1944. My great-grandfather died long before I was born. I would love to sit on his lap and listen to him talking about his brave deeds. Although it is unlikely that for such soldiers as my great-grandfather, these were feats, because they simply defended their Homeland. We are infinitely grateful and proud of our great-grandparents who gave us the world!
