Sedov Nikolay Gerasimovich
Branch of service: Land Forces, Air Forces (except marine aviation), the coast guard, the NKVD border troops. My father, Nikolai Gerasimovich Sedov, was born on may 24, 1925 in the village of Efimovka, Volovsky district, Kursk region (now Lipetsk). The family had 10 children, two of whom died in early childhood. At the age of 11, my father became the oldest peasantman in his family, in the village. By this time, the two older brothers, after school, had already left to study and work. By the beginning of the Great Patriotic war, my father had completed eight forms of high school. After the rapid advance of the German army on the Soviet Union, in order not to be in the occupied territory, in late summer and early autumn, the whole family, with my mother, with my older and younger sisters, had to leave the front line to the East. After they settled in a new place, they had to survive. In the autumn of 1942, my father went back to school, in the 9th form, but did not have a chance to finish it. In December of 1942, at the age of 17, he received a summons to the front. After passing the training unit, in June of 1943, he got to serve in the 7th Separate Guards Airborne Brigade. As part of his unit, with the rank of solier, he participated in the liberation of the occupied territory of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. Participated in the liberation of Vienna. From May 5 to May 11 1945, as part of the troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, he took part in the Prague offensive. He heard about the end of the war on May 12, 1945. He rarely talked about the war. During the war, he did not have a single wound, was shell-shocked, as a result of which in the 60s he was almost deaf. Medicine helped to restore hearing, but not completely. After the war, he served in military service until 1948. From 1948 to 1950, he studied at the artillery school in Engels, Saratov region. He graduated with the rank of lieutenant. At the same time, he graduated from a high school. After graduation, he was sent to serve in China. From 1950 to 1955, he served in the People's Republic of China. After the Soviet withdrawal from China, in 1955-1956 he served in Belomorsk and Kandalaksha. In 1956, he entered the Leningrad Academy. Fell under the" Khrushchev " reduction in the rank of captain. After the army, he graduated from the Kursk Agricultural Institute in Absentia. Lived and worked in Kursk. Raised two children.
