Slepov Vasily Nikitovich
Slepov Vasily Nikitovich
Vasily Slepov was born in 1922 in the village of Bolshoy Vyas, Luninsky district, Penza region. In the hot forty-first Vasily turned 19 years old. A young boy, then still did not fully know what war was, what to experience ahead.... His cousin, Nikolai, wept bitterly before being sent to the front, and Vasily calmed him down: "Well, brother, we don't have wifes or children. What should we cry about?" «You don't know how difficult it is in war, Vasya.» (Nicholas did not return from the war). Rookie Basil Slepov arrived in Celexa (now the village of Kizhevatovo). Here was the distribution point. Soldiers there received military uniforms and were immediately sent to the front. Among thousands of strangers suddenly a familiar voice: "Vasily! Slepov!» This was his school teacher Sergey Dmitrievich Yershov (he worked as a clerk). "You are my disciple, and immediately in hell – this will not happen! You will go first to school, you will gain the skills of a soldier's life.» The train was carrying recruits to the Far East. There, too, it was restless, the Japanese raised their heads. The food was poor on the road, and the journey was so long. In Khabarovsk, Vasily was taught to Shoe horses, handle a radio and weapons. Six months passed. The time of war did not stand still. On the way back to Europe the train was already carrying experienced fighters. War doesn't choose a profession. Vasily had to fight as a signalman. He was supposed to repair the wire that had been torn apart by the explosions connecting the front line and the command post. Vasily often recalled individual episodes of life in the war. Once he was assigned to guard the point. There was no shift for two days, which means two days without food, water, or sleep. Then they sent a replacement. Once near Voronezh, near the village of Olkhovatka, Vasily was assigned to stretch the wire to the desired object. Then an enemy mortar struck. But we must run. Shells explode from the right, then from the left. Young Vasily-yesterday's boy, runs from the explosion on the field, rushes to the right, then to the left. He prayed: "Our Father! Help!". He knew that God is the Trinity and that there is such a prayer as "Our Father". - My mother taught him as a child. His mother Matryona Platonovna was a gentle, kind woman. The entire war praying for the son of the Vasya and Stepan. What's about Vasily out there on the field? Got it! Still alive! The reel is empty, the task is completed. Vasily Nikitovich Slepov, a red army soldier, was awarded the Medal for Bravery. For fixing eleven wire damages under enemy fire near Alva city, the UK, 24 August 1944. Vasily Nikitovich participated in the liberation of Leningrad from the blockade. Before the attack, they stood kneeled deep in the swamp. Then the Germans opened fire. They couldn’t lie down-it was wet, and they couldn’tt put their rifles down. They just stood there. The shell exploded suddenly very close. Saved the quagmire, reduced the shock wave. He was drenched in muddy swamp slush. Stunned. His ear was bleeding. He wiped it on his sleeve and went on the offensive. He didn't hear it for three days, then it came back. Another medal was for the capture of Konigsberg. Red Army men were melted down on barges at night. The attack started suddenly for the Germans. They didn't even resist. Simply run. Dropping the weapon. I met the victory in Czechoslovakia. After the victory, he did not immediately return home. He served in the army for two more years. He reached his house only at night. They didn't recognize him. Rejoiced. Then it was life after the war: work, home, children, troubles and joys. He raised three children, three grandchildren, and now he is happy with three great-grandchildren. He is now 95 years old. He couldn't hear at all. It was the result of that explosion.
