Savinov Ivan Vasilyevich

Savinov Ivan Vasilyevich Rank: Lieutenant. Branch of service: Land Forces, Air Forces (except for Marine Aviation), the coast guard, the troops of the NKVD, border troops. Ivan Vasilyevich considered himself to be a lucky man. To confirm that he usually recalled an incident from his youth. Ivan Vasilyevich graduated from a high school in 1941. On June 21 the graduation party was held, and the next day the war began. The boys ran to the military enlistment office to sign up for the front. An echelon of volunteers was formed. Savinov was not accepted into this echelon. They told him: «Wait for the next one!» Vanya was embarrassed, but belived that the military Commissar knew better. That train, in which he was supposed to go, the Germans bombed. Almost all the "passengers" were killed. Savinov had a mystical feeling: "God saved! him» He was lucky. He did not fall into the fiery military Inferno immediately , but into the school of communications of the Central Asian military district, based in Tashkent. Ivan Vasilyevich was drafted into the Red Army in November of 1941, served in the 552nd airfield service battalion, in the communications company as head of the military Telegraph station in the Central Asian military district, and from June of 1943 to May of 1945 participated in battles as part of the Central and 1st Belorussian Fronts. He studied and received the rank of Lieutenant. Being the commander of a communications company he got to the front in 1943, when the liberation of Belarus had already begun. As head of the Telegraph station, Ivan Vasilyevich participated in the battles of Minsk, Warsaw, and Berlin. In 1945, for a personal feat, the head of the Telegraph station of the 552nd airfield service battalion, Senior Sergeant of the technical service Savinov Ivan Vasilyevich, was awarded the medal "For military merit": "At first, the service of combat air regiments, the Telegraph station, despite its workload under the leadership of comrade Savinova and his personal duty as a Telegraph operator, coped with the work perfectly. Despite bad weather or his fatigue, he personally eliminated the Telegraph line burst twice, once at a distance of 800 meters in 5 minutes, and another time at a distance of 1.5 km in 10 minutes. The Telegraph service at the Kreising airfield was not activated, comrade Savinov, on his own initiative, without waiting for the order of the commander, began to direct the Telegraph lines. At the same time, comrade Savinov showed skill, perseverance and endurance. For lack of means of traction comrade Savinov personally brought the cable, unwound it 10-11 kg a day. As the result, the staff pf the 552nd BAO had a smooth and timely telephone communication with headquarters, which allowed a clear and rapid work management of staff leadership". After the end of the war, he served in the Northern group of troops in Poland, in the Belarusian and Volga military districts. In February of 1948 he was discharged from the army. Awarded the following medals: " For military merit».
