He took part in the battles on the Chinese Eastern Railway (CER) in 1929. From February 1935 to October 1937 - head of a department at the headquarters of the Trans-Baikal Military District. In 1939 he graduated from the Military Academy of the Red Army named after M.V. Frunze. Since December 1939 - Deputy Chief of Staff of the 50th Rifle Corps for the rear, participated in the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940, was awarded an order. Since August 1940 - commander of the 461st Rifle Regiment of the 142nd Rifle Division of the Leningrad Military District. On the fronts of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. The 461st Infantry Regiment(142nd Infantry Division, 23rd Army, Northern Front), commanded by Colonel V.A.Trubachev, defended on the state border of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) with Finland, in the Ristilahti sector of the Lakhdenpoh front , east of the city of Vyborg. The stable defense of this line provided important military transportation and the evacuation of material assets along the Leningrad-Sortavala railway. On June 29, 1941, Finnish troops crossed the border of the USSR and launched an offensive on the front up to 150 kilometers, including in certain areas of defense of the 142nd Infantry Division. As a result of the brave battles of this division, the enemy was thrown back to the starting line. During the first five weeks of the war, from June 29 to August 4, 1941, in the area of the Lakhdenpohja settlement and the urban-type settlement of Elisenvaara (Karelia), the 461st Rifle Regiment did not move a step away from the state border, and the enemy was unable to advance in the given front and suffered significant losses. By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 25, 1941, Colonel Vasily Alekseevich Trubachev was awarded the title of the first of Hero of the Soviet Union with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 632). This was one of the first such decrees of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, and the 461st Infantry Regiment was awarded the Order of Lenin. From September 1941 he was Commander of the 1st Rifle Division of the NKVD troops on the Leningrad front. From April 1942 he was Chief of Staff of the Nevskaya mission Force. On October 13, 1942, Colonel Trubachev was appointed commander of the 86th Infantry Division (67th Army, Leningrad Front), formed from the Leningrad militia. The soldiers of this division especially distinguished themselves during Operation Iskra to break the blockade of Leningrad, and in the liberation of the city of Shlisselburg (in 1944-1992 - Petrokrepost) of the Leningrad Region on January 18, 1943. On April 21, 1943, Colonel V. A. Trubachev was awarded the military rank of "Major General". Since August 1943 - commander of the 64th Guards Rifle Division of the 67th Army of the Leningrad Front. From December 6, 1943 - commander of the 117th Rifle Corps in the 59th and 8th Armies of the Leningrad Front. The corps troops from January to September 1944, as part of the troops of the Leningrad Front, took an active part in the Krasnosel'sko-Ropsha, Novgorod-Luga, Narva, Tallinn offensive operations, liberating the cities from the Nazi invaders: Gatchina, Luga, Narva, Iykhvi (Yykhvi), Kunda, Tapa, Tallinn. From March to June 1944, the corps fought heavy battles on the Narva foot strong. Since November 1944, the corps was transferred to the central front of the Soviet-German front and transferred to the 21st Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front. From January to May 1945, the 117th Rifle Corps under the command of Major General V.A. Trubachev as part of the 21st Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front participated in the Sandomierz-Silesian, Lower Silesian, Upper Silesian and Prague offensive operations, liberates the cities: Oppeln (Opole), Steinau (Stsinava Mala), Strigau (Strzegom). After the war, he commanded the same corps until February 1946. In 1948 he graduated from the Higher Military Academy named after K.E. Voroshilov. From February 1948 he continued to serve in this academy as a Senior teacher. Since February 1954, Major General V.A.Trubachev is in reserve. He lived in Moscow. He died tragically on June 1, 1964. Buried at the Donskoy cemetery in Moscow. He was awarded 2 Orders of Lenin, 3 Orders of the Red Banner, Orders of Kutuzov 1st and 2nd degree, Suvorov 2nd degree, Red Star, medals, a foreign order. A ship of the Ministry of River Fleet, a street in the city of Lahdenpohja of the Republic of Karelia, where an annotation board is installed, is named after the Hero. In the village of Taitsy, Leningrad Region, a memorial plaque was installed in memory of the headquarters of the 2nd Guards Division, which was commanded by the hero.
