Peter Michailovich Gromozov was born on September, 11, 1918 in Zhguli village, Nemsky district of Kirov region. In 1939, he was drafted into Red army and served in the Far East. Then the war strated, since 1941 he was at the front. He was Commander of transport Department, tank Department, rifle platoon, and after passing the command courses, - commander of a platoon of submachine gunners with the rank of second Lieutenant. Moscow, Tula, Kaluga, Konigsberg, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Germany – this is the battle path of P. M. Gromozov. He was repeatedly wounded and shell-shocked., When crossing the Dnieper river, he received a small piece of lead, remained forever in his body, because surgeons were afraid to remove it. On 09/09/1943 in the battles for Lyutenka village, Poltava region, Ukraine, P. M. Gromozov repelled the counterattacks of the Nazis several times from his machine gun, destroyed 15 Nazis and ensured the advance of his unit. After the war, he participated in the liquidation of an armed bandit underground in Western Ukraine. For personal courage and bravery P. M. Gromozov awarded: twice the medal "for bravery", "for the defense of Moscow", the order of the Patriotic war of the 1st degree, the Zhukov medal and many commemorative medals. Coming back home in 1946, P. M. Gromozov worked in a kolkhoz. He was respected and appreciated for his hard work, diligence, simplicity and sincerity. Fate had dealt him a terrible blow. Son Sasha, commander of the paratrooper squad, died in Afghanistan in 1980. But my father-in-law did not become bitter, until a very old age he never remained idle and loved his relatives. He died at the age of 92, and was buried in Ilinskoe village.
