Grigory Borisov

Grigory was born on April 18, 1918 in the village of Kholostoy Maidan, Garskaya Volost, Arzamas Uyezd . In a family of middle-level peasants. In 1935, he graduated from Medyntsevo incomplete Secondary School. In order to obtain a profession, he graduated from the courses of collective farm accountants in the village of Green Mountains in 1936. As an accountant, he worked for the collective farm "Progress", "Red May"and in the state farm "Red October". He was mobilized into the Red Army by the Vadsky District Military Commissariat on July 31, 1941. Service in the Army: from July 31, 1941 to September 1941, he was a cadet at the Gorky School of Radio Operators, from September 1941 until December 1941, telephone operator of the 21st Tank Brigade. On December 7, 1941, in the battle of Moscow, he was wounded by a shrapnel in the right cheek and spent time in hospital #3496 in Kineshma until January 1942. Since January 1942 until March 1942, he was a telephone operator in the 240th Separate Signal Battalion. He became a member of the CPSU (b) in March 1942. Since March 1942 until may 1942, he took courses for Junior political instructors of the 3rd Shock Army. From May 1942 to September 1942 - Political Officer of the 240th Separate Signal Battalion of the 117th Rifle Division. From September 1942 to March 1943 - Political Instructor of a platoon of the 275th Rifle Regiment of the 117th Rifle Division. From the award lists received from the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation one can find out the following: "In the battles for the defense of the city of Moscow 7.12.1941, comrade Borisov acting as a member of the 169th Rifle Regiment of the 1st Moscow Rifle Division as a signal platoon commander despite heavy enemy artillery fire, his platoon provided timely communications for the regiment's units, which contributed to the successful completion of the task. From another award list, we know that: "during the breakthrough of the enemy's fortified defense in the area of Sestoken East Prussia 19.01.1945 year comrade Borisov, despite the difficult situation of the battle and strong enemy artillery fire, skillfully organized uninterrupted communication between the battalion's battle formations and the battalion commanders, which contributed to a clear operational control of the battle. In the battle for the city of Nordenburg in East Prussia on 24.01.1945, comrade Borisov, under heavy enemy artillery fire, skillfully organized communication between rifle units, which ensured the interaction of infantry with artillery, as a result the battalion units were among the first to break into the city of Nordenburg. He was wounded in this battle." From March 1943 to May 1943, he was Secretary of the Komsomol in the 167th Separate Ski Battalion of the 117 Rifle Division. Since May 1943 until June 1943, he was Deputy Commander of the rifle company of the 240th Rifle Regiment of the 117th Rifle Division. From June 1943 to September 1944 he was a cadet of the Voronezh Military School, which during the war was evacuated to the city of Samarkand, from this school Grigory graduated with honors. From September 1944 to January 1945, he was the Commander of a signal platoon of the 1st Guards Rifle Battalion Regiment of the 1st Guards Rifle battalion. On January 21, 1945, he was slightly wounded in the left leg near the city of Konigsberg. Since January 1945 until October 1945, he was in hospital #2843 in Arzamas. He was again sent to the front in October 1945. He was chief of communications of the 1st Division of the 76th Guards Mortar Regiment until May 1946. He was dismissed to the reserve on June 6, 1946. For courage, fortitude and bravery shown in the fight against the Nazi invaders, he received a number of state awards of the USSR. Among them are the medals For the defense of the of Moscow, For Bravery from 9.01.1945 and two orders of the Patriotic war 2nd degree from 26.04.1945 and from 6.04.1985 and the Medal For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War from 1945, the Medal For the Capture of Konigsberg. After the war in 1949, his family moved to the city of Arzamas. At first, he worked as a Warehouse Manager at the station of Arzamas 1, which belonged to the Regional Consumer Union. He also worked in the editorial offices of the newspaper "Selskaya Nov" and "Arzamasskaya Pravda". Later, Grigory became an employee of the Arzamas printing house and took the position of a Chief Accountant. He served in this position until his retirement. Together with his wife Olga they lived a happy life together, raised four wonderful daughters. For many years of conscientious work, Grigory was awarded the Medal Veteran of Labor. Grigory passed away at the age of 96 in Arzamas, on June 14, 2013.
