After a long defense, our troops went on the offensive, defeated the German fascist invaders and liberated the Kerch Peninsula. Subsequently, the 82nd Guards Rifle Regiment, as part of a separate Primorsky Army, took part in the battles for the liberation of the Crimean Peninsula. One of the brightest events was the battle on Sapun-Gora, where they broke the German defense by storm and hoisted the banner on its top, and then entered the city of Sevastopol with battles, after which on May 10, 1944 Crimea was liberated from the invaders. For courage and bravery displayed during the Great Patriotic War, Ashkhotov Dzhambulat Talovich was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, medals: "For Courage", "For Military Merit", "For the Defense of the Caucasus", "For Victory over Germany" and anniversary awards. In the war he was wounded three times and lived until the end of his life with a shell fragment in his chest. After the end of the war in November 1945, Ashkhotov Dzhambulat Talovich returned from the front to his native village on the Verkhniy Kurp of the Kabardian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and was actively involved in the reconstruction work of the village destroyed by the war. After retirement, Dzhambulat Talovich worked in the Tersk branch of the State Insurance Agency as an insurance agent. For many years of conscientious work he was awarded the "Labor Veteran" medal.
