Amagaev Irimey Dmitrievich
My grandfather Amagayev Iriney Dmitrievich was born in 1916 into a peasant family. In 1938 he graduated from the Bokhan Pedagogical School, having received the specialty of a primary school teacher, worked as a teacher before being drafted into the ranks of the Red Army in 1942. After graduating from the Trans-Baikal machine-gun and mortar school with the rank of junior lieutenant, he became commander of a machine-gun platoon of the 624th rifle regiment, 48th Army. My grandfather fought heroically! He had many awards. In the battles with fascist Germany on the territory of East Prussia, a company under the command of my grandfather as part of the 624th rifle regiment of the 137th rifle division of the 48th Army of the Belorussian Front took the railway station and held it until the main forces arrived. For this feat, the command of the regiment made a decision to nominate Lieutenant Amagayev Iriney Dmitrievich to the rank of Hero of the Soviet Union! On the same day, my grandfather received congratulations from the command staff of the battalion and colleagues. But the reward was delayed .. Recalling the chronicle of that difficult time in memory, my grandfather told me that the battalion's political officer died soon after (direct hit of a shell), it is possible that the presentation for the award was with the deceased. regular forces, the grandfather did not wait for the promised reward, and he did not consider it a matter of honor to remind of it as a Red Army officer. From the infrequent conversations with my grandfather about the hardest years of the war, I would like to recall those stories when he and his company were surrounded and frostbitten on both legs, as the Nazis fired at him from a tank with direct fire. During the war, my grandfather was twice wounded: the first wound in the head through, the second in the leg in the left thigh and both hands. My grandfather returned home in 1946 after being demobilized for health reasons as a company commander and with the rank of senior lieutenant. During his stay in the army, my grandfather went through Poland and Germany (East Prussia). For military services, my grandfather was awarded the Order of the Red Star dated 17.07.44, Order No. 0146, the Order of Alexander Nevsky dated 04.03.45, Order No. 725/2, Medal for Victory over Germany, decree from 05/09/45, medal "For the capture of Koenigsberg" decree of 06/09/45 and also had gratitude from the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Stalin for participating in the capture of the city of Bobruisk.
