Ivan Grigorievich Ledovsky was born on June 15, 1920 in the village of Belovskoye, Omsk Region, into a peasant family. Russian. In 1922, the family moved to the village of Moiseevka, now in the Zhelezinsky district of the Pavlodar region. He graduated from 7 classes, worked on a collective farm as a steam mill operator, and then as a combine operator. In 1938 he was called up for active military service, which took place in the Leningrad Military District, as a private in a rifle regiment. Member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940. On the Leningrad Front he received his baptism of fire in June 1941. He graduated from the courses for junior commanders in 1943. Wounded hard 06.22.41, easy 06.20.41 and 02.01.42. Moving forward, Senior Lieutenant Ledovsky, while crossing the Berezina River, with his personal example, courage and heroism as part of a battalion, defeated the enemy at the crossing of the Berezina River, seized the ferry and the crossing. Under enemy fire, he swam across the Berezina River near the village of Perevoz, together with senior sergeant Khrykov. They held out on the enemy coast for more than 40 minutes, preventing the enemy from destroying the ferry and the ferry with their fire. Under enemy fire, they personally pulled the ferry to our shore. Thanks to the heroism of Senior Lieutenant Ledovsky and Senior Sergeant Khrykov and their swift capture of the crossing, the enemy was utterly defeated. The capture of the crossing made it possible to transfer quickly the troops of both our own unit and others, thereby making it possible to defeat the enemy on the eastern bank of the Berezina River and develop a further offensive on the captured bridgehead. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was conferred on 03.24.1945. After the war he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Pavlodar. He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Patriotic War 1 and 2 degrees, medals. He died in 1988. On the alley of heroes in Pavlodar there is a stele with a bas-relief of the Hero.
