He was very fond of music, played string instruments. But everything changed when the war began. All peaceful life in an instant remained in the past. During the outbreak of the war, the Lerman family was evacuated to the Sverdlovsk region, and young Arkady was given a reservation, according to which he was not subject to conscription into the Red Army. The young man, like his younger sister, had to work at the factory, supply the front with everything necessary. At first it was so ... But young Arkady, being a real man, secretly from his parents appeared in the Sverdlovsk city military commissariat, where he managed to add his age to get the opportunity to get to the front. An amazing case when a young man, in spite of everything, nevertheless volunteered, where he became a private, and then a private in the guard in the 102nd Guards Rifle Regiment of the 1st Guards Army. Private Lerman A.B. participated in the operation "Little Saturn", the purpose of which is the liberation of Rostov, including the Chertkovsky district, the Rostov region. There were fierce and bloody battles from January 1942 to April 1943, with huge losses. The enemy behaved very tough, the army missed a huge number of its soldiers. On January 18, 1943, Arkady Borisovich Lerman, was seriously wounded in the thigh, but he was only sent to the hospital on January 20, 1943. It was a mobile surgical field hospital No. 4393, which was located on the basis of the district hospital of the Filippovsky farm. The hospital doctors were unable to save Arkady's life, since the wound was incompatible with life. From the received wound, he died on February 5, 1943, before he was 20 years old ... He was buried in mass grave No. 6, at the hospital cemetery of the Filippovsky farm, Chertkovsky district of the Rostov region.
