Many people from Lagani (Republic of Kalmykia) know and remember the veteran of war and labor Timofey Djanaevich Lidgi-Goryaev. He was born in the Caspian region, in the village of Deligero (Kura), Lagansky ulus on February 23, 1922. At the age of fifteen, before the war, he began working at a fish cannery as an accountant. Then the war came began. Most of the male population of Lagani went to the front. Timofey Dzhanaevich was sent to build a railway along the line of the military enlistment office. Together with many fellow countrymen, he built the Kizlyar-Astrakhan railway. They worked tirelessly day and night. The work was very hard: they were hammering the frozen ground, carried clay on stretchers, but everyone was thinking about the victory that was still so far away. With this faith they overcame all adversity. August 1942. Military operations unfolded on the territory of Kalmykia. In September 1942 Timofey Dzhanaevich was drafted into the army by the Lagansky district military commissariat. So he was recalled from the construction of the railway. He was assigned to the 3rd company of the 1st Battalion of the 159th Separate Rifle Brigade of the 28th Army. In just 2 months, he learned how to shoot a gun. The very first battle was at Hulhuta (Republuc of Kalmykia). Then he released Elista. During the most difficult days of the battle for Stalingrad, the he defended tractor factory. After the liberation of Stalingrad, he participated in the battles for Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Donbass, fought for the Crimea, stormed the "Turkish wall". In one of the battles, he was wounded, he was treated in a hospital in Krasnoarmeysk. After recovering, he was sent to the 4th Ukrainian front. Red army soldier Lidgi-Goryaev T. D. served in the unit No. 10984-a, which liberated the land of Ukraine. Siberia... Deportation in 1943. This is one of the tragic events in the life of the Kalmyk people. But they had to live and survive to prove that the people of Kalmykia are loyal to their Homeland. Before the war, my grandfather, working at a fish processing plant, mastered the profession of an accountant. In Muynak, where he was during the deportation, he worked as an accountant at a fish canning plant. Timofey Dzhanaevich had a lot of awards: "For the Defense of Stalingrad", "For Valorous Labor", “For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic war"," 30 years of Victory in the Second World War"," Medal of Zhukov", Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class" and others. Despite on his war wounds, after returning to his Homeland Timofey actively began to restore the economy of the Republic, worked as a senior accountant at the Krasny Moryak collective farm, at the Lagansky fish factory. In 1993 when he retired he was appointed member of the Council of Elders of the city Lagan, helped to find out the names of soldiers who died during the war, missed or died in Siberia and put their names in the Memorial Book. He collaborated with the newspaper "Primorskie izvestiya" and wrote about the veterans. Having been widowed early, Timofey Dzhanaevich showed his father's heroism-he devoted his whole life to brought up five children, giving them an education. In 2000, he died of old war wounds.
