Beisenov Kenesbay Beisenovich

My grandfather, Beisenov Kenesbay Beisenovich was born on the 1st of October in Edirey of Karaganda region in Kazakhstan. He was called up in may 1942. In Tashkent, he was trained as a military signalman. "There were a lot of losses. One regiment, completely destroyed, was re-formed near Moscow. So we, the signalmen, were torn from our studies and brought to Moscow, trained to shoot from machineguns and then sent to the front back" - told Kenesbay Beisenovich. Not far Velikiye Luki the recruits marched four days to the front. "The young ones got there well, but the old ones stayed on the road: who died, who got sick," he shared his memories. In November 1942, Kenesbai Beysenov participated in the liberation of Velikiye Luki, later - the cities of military glory. During the Great Patriotic war, the battles for the liberation of Velikiye Luki were so fierce that the city was nicknamed "Little Stalingrad". The city has created a Museum and erected a monument to Alexander Matrosov, who performed his feat at the village of Chernushki near Velikiye Luki. During the liberation of this city, 19-year-old Rifleman Beisenov was seriously wounded — he received a through wound in the chest and was hospitalized. He needed a complex operation, so he was sent to Moscow. Severe wounds were cured only by February 1943. After being discharged from the hospital, the soldier was again sent to the front line, fought in the 27th combined arms army under the command of General Sergei Trofimenko, the Hero of the Soviet Union. Kenesbay Beisenovich was a radio operator at the headquarters of the 27th army. He became a participant in the legendary Korsun-Shevchenko battle. This is an offensive operation of the 1st and 2nd Ukrainian fronts, conducted on January 24 - February 17, 1944 in order to destroy Korsun-Shevchenko group of the Wehrmacht. "We surrounded this 73,000-strong army, some of them were captured, the rest were destroyed" - the veteran described. "From 1944 to 1945, our army fought through Romania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, liberated Budapest and reached Austria." The front-line soldier was discharged in February 1947. For his military services, Kenesbay beysenov was awarded the order of the Patriotic war of the I degree, medals "for bravery", "for the capture of Budapest". The work of Kenesbay Beisenovich in time of peace also received awards. He was a respected man in the region. And on his birthday, October 1, his warm house gathered numerous guests: children and grandchildren, front-line friends and colleagues. Kenesbay Beisenovich Beisenov died on July 20, 2012, at the age of 89.
