Kalimanov Ivan Eremeyevich

Born in 1924 on the farm Beisyuzhok Krasnodar territory. The boy grew up an orphan, his father died in a battle with bandits in the year of his son's birth, and soon his mother died. In the early 30s, together with his older brother's family, Ivan moved to Ukraine. Graduated from the Federal law school, he worked as a bricklayer. When the homeland was in a grave danger, 17-year-old Ivan Kalimanov volunteered. He received his baptism of fire in Stalingrad. The middle of September 1942, and especially the second half of it, were very difficult for the Stalingraders. On September 15, fierce fighting broke out in the area of the railway station. The station passed from hand to hand. The struggle was for every block, street and house. And yet Stalingrad held on. Struggling, but holding on. This was primarily due to such courageous people as Ivan Kalimanov. In the struggle for Volga stronghold near Mamayev Kurgan in December 1942, Ivan Kalimanov was seriously wounded. And in February 1943, I. E. Kalimanov was again drafted into the army and enlisted as a machine gunner in the 1st battalion of the 658th rifle regiment of the 218th Romodino-Kiev rifle division. By the end of September 1943, the Red Army was making decisive progress in the struggle for Dnieper. The rate of the Supreme command took into account crossing of the river. A Directive was sent to the troops, which, in particular, indicated that for crossing Dnieper in Smolensk region and below the rivers equal to Dnieper in terms of difficulty to overcome, Soviet soldiers should be awarderd the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union. After the war, in 1949, he left for the construction of the Shchekinsky gas plant in Tula region, worked as a construction driver, and from 1953 until retirement worked at Pervomaiskaya CHP as a high-pressure boiler driver. After his retirement Kalimanov lived in a small house surrounded by apple gardens on the outskirts of Pervomaisky. He worked hard and lovingly tended his middle-aged apple orchard. Ivan Eremeyevich died on August 15, 2006. His native team of power engineers remember and deeply honor the Hero of the last war. Citizens of Pervomayskiy are proud to have worked and lived next to such a wonderful person.
