Kravchenko Georgy Avvakumovich

Georgy Avvakumovich Kravchenko was born on January 19, 1915 in Uritsky in Gomel region of Gomel district. In 1941 he graduated from Saratov automobile and road Institute with a degree in road construction engineer. He called up from Keksholm (Kyakisalmsky) RVC of Keksholm (Kyakisalmsky) district in Karelo-Finnish SSR. He served as a senior technician-Lieutenant, engineer-captain, engineer-Lieutenant Colonel. He was an engineer of the 4th Head Road Department of the 7th army of Karelian front. From July 1941 to December 1944-engineer of the 175th Department of the road construction battalion of the 7th army of Karelian front. From August 1942-engineer of the 121st Department of road maintenance battalion of the 7th army of Karelian front. From July 1941 to December 1944, he served as a Department engineer on Karelian front. From December 1944 to may 1945 - engineer of the battalion on the 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian fronts. Throughout the great Patriotic war of 1941-45, he repaired roads and built floating bridges so that military equipment could move from shore to shore. Combat path of Kravchenko G. A. He skilfully organized and directed the restoration of destroyed road sections in the areas of actions of the advanced units, which ensured the uninterrupted movement of troops and transport. He organized and personally supervised the restoration of Enya-yoki river bridge, which was restored in 17 hours of continuous work. For skilful management and organization of road construction works and high discipline Kravchenko Georgy Avvakumovich was encouraged by the commanders. He awarded the medal "for military merit". Georgiy Avvakumovich Vienna. In 1945 he shot in the leg. He met the great Victory in the hospital. However, his wound is not indicated in the papers of the Central archive of the Russian defense Ministry. In his personal documents there is a list of awards, including the medal "for the capture of Vienna", but unfortunately there is no documentary evidence of this. Since Georgy Avvakumovich told his relatives about the capture of Vienna, we should assume that the reward place. Since 1961 he had been a member of the scientific and technical society of Road Construction Management. In 1975 and 1976, he developed rationalization proposals approved by the Council of Ministers of the USSR. According to colleagues working together with Georgiy Avvakumovich, two bridges were built according to his project: in Karelia and the Baltic States. He died on October 1, 1991 at the age of 77.
