Rank: Red army soldier. Type of the army: Land forces, Air Force (except naval aviation), Coast Service, the NKVD troops, Border Guard.Unit: the 32nd Guards Rifle Taman Red Banner order of Suvorov Division. Viktor Pavlovich Golovchenko was drafted into the Soviet army at the age of 17 in June 1942 from the Podgorny village , Remontnensky district, Rostov region. In the city of Astrakhan, on the basis of the airborne corps, the 32nd Guards Rifle Division was formed, and Viktor Golovchenko was enlisted in the 80th Regiment of this Division. He fought on the Southern Front. In defensive battles in the steppes of Kalmykia, he was wounded for the first time. Then in 1943 he took part in the liberation of the Rostov region. Then the Mius river was forced under enemy fire. And already in November 1943, he participated in the battles to expand the bridgehead on the Kerch Peninsula. Being an armored car driver with a gun, the PTR knocked out 2 enemy tanks and several cars, and also destroyed a number of machine-gun firing points, for which he was awarded the Medal ""For bravery"". In the same battle, he was wounded. Already as a scout of a separate reconnaissance company, he participated in the liberation of Simferopol, Sevastopol, and the assault on Sapun mountain. The scout profession requires brave, courageous, brave warriors who could capture the ""informers"" with their dexterity and skill and deliver it to their positions without losing their comrades. In the battles for the liberation of the Crimea, Viktor Pavlovich Golovchenko was awarded the Order of ""Glory of the 3d class"" and the Order of the ""Red Star"". Then there was the liberation of Belarus, Lithuania, and Latvia. Taking ""informers"" in the area of shauliai (Lithuania); on the Neman river July-August 1944; in the area of Gumbinnen, Tilsit (East Prussia); on the approaches to the city of Koenigsberg (January 1945). For these successfully completed reconnaissance tasks to capture the ""control informers"", the command of the division's intelligence Department presented Viktor Pavlovich Golovchenko with the second Order of the ""Red Star"" and the Order of the ""Patriotic war of 1st class"". During his service, Viktor Pavlovich was wounded several times, twice seriously. He was discharged from the Army in November 1945. After the war, there were operations to remove fragments and a long recovery of the right hand (due to a severe shrapnel wound to the shoulder joint). Then he started working in peacetime: first as a turner, then, after completing driver's courses, he began working as a truck driver. For justice and honesty, he enjoyed the authority and respect of his fellow villagers. For conscientious work, he was awarded the Medal ""Veteran of labor"". He retired at the age of 60. In April 1999, at the age of 73, Viktor Pavlovich died. Children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are proud of their father, grandfather and great-grandfather."
