Glushkov Mikhail Alekseevich
Rank: Senior Lieutenant.Type of the Army: Land forces, Air Force (except naval aviation), Coast Service, the NKVD troops, Border Guard. Unit: the 93rd Guards Rifle Kharkiv twice Red Banner orders of Suvorov and Kutuzov division. He must have been a second Lieutenant on long-term duty. And here it is worth admitting that he was very lucky for the second time in his life. After all, it is much better to go to war as an officer than as a private.Mikhail Alekseevich took part in the Patriotic War from June 22, 1941 as part of a Separate Primorye Army. He immediately took part in the border battles in Moldova (June 22, 1941 – July 26, 1941). After receiving a Directive from Moscow to put the troops on alert, it happened at the first hour of the night on June 22. Part of the covering forces had already taken up positions on the border, on June 20-21, aviation was dispersed to reserve airfields, and the district headquarters occupied an equipped field command post near Tiraspol. These measures did not allow the enemy to take the district's troops by surprise. At the beginning of the war, the Primorye Army fought heavy battles, retreating towards Odessa. On August 5, 1941, they was ordered to defend the city to the last possible moment. Grandfather Misha took part in the defense of Odessa (August 5, 1941 - October 16, 1941). He got he Medal ""For the defense of Odessa"".Then he took part in heavy defensive battles in the Crimea, participated in the defense of Sevastopol from September 12, 1941. On January 17, 1942, he was wounded near Sevastopol. Again, he probably had a Medal ""For the defense of Sevastopol"", which was given to all participants (about 52,540 people).Since March 1, 1942 (apparently, after discharge from the hospital), he was assigned to the South-Western front. On July 12, 1942, the Southwestern front was disbanded. The 9th, 28th, 29th, and 57th Armies that were active in it were transferred to the Southern Front, and the 21st Army and 8th Air Army were transferred to the Stalingrad front. According to documents, grandfather Misha fought in the Stalingrad front from July 12, 1942. From this we can conclude that from March 1, 1942, he fought in the 21st Army. On December 8, 1942, he was wounded at Stalingrad. In this case, it is documented that there is a Medal ""For the defense of Stalingrad"", which was given to all participants (about 759,560 people). In December 1943, he joined the newly formed (after being withdrawn to the reserve in September) 93rd Guards Rrifle Division in the 129th Rifle regiment, in which he fought until the end of the war. Personal traces of Mikhail Alekseevich in the military operations of the spring of 1943-spring of 1944 have not yet been found. The documents say that until February 1, 1944, he fought on the Don front. But it was disbanded on February 15, 1943. It is also written that from February 1, 1944 (in a later document from June 4, 1944), he fought as part of the 3rd Ukrainian front. Mixed up in both cases, as the 93rd Rifle Division was incorporated into the 3rd Ukrainian front on March 1, 1944 (before that, the 2nd Ukrainian front). In the spring of 1944, together with his 129 Rifle Regiment of the 93rd Rifle Division, already in the rank of Lieutenant, Mikhail Alekseevich crossed the Dniester and Prut rivers and entered the territory of Romania. The entire division was awarded the order of Suvorov, 2nd class (April 24, 1944) for exemplary performance of command tasks while crossing the Prut river. And on July 21, 1944, Mikhail Alekseevich was personally awarded the Order of the ""Red Star"" with the following wording: ""Comrade Glushkov M. A. an active participant in the Patriotic war since June 1941. He participated in the battles for the Motherland as an officer, was wounded twice in January 1942 near Sevastopol, and in December 1942 near Stalingrad. In this battle, comrade Glushkov did not lose a single person, took 150 Krauts prisoner, including four officers, as well as weapons, equipment and trophies. For skilful leadership of the reconnaissance operation and management of the battle and the courage and perseverance shown at the same time, the commander of the platoon of foot reconnaissance-Lieutenant comrade Glushkov M. Further, according to the stories of relatives, Mikhail Alekseevich fought in the Budapest area, was wounded there and remained in the hospital for six months. For the feat performed on March 21, 1945, on April 21, 1945, he was presented to the Order of the red Star with the following wording:""During the fighting, comrade Glushkov encouraged the personnel to perform feats and organized the management of the battle, always being in the forefront of the fighters.
