Unit: 6th Oryol-Khingan Double Red Banner Order of Suvorov Rifle Division
A young slender 18-year-old guy in the uniform of a border guard served in the Brest Fortress from the first days of the war. He was immediately sent into the second company upon arrival. The company commander asked the guy: "What's your name?" - "Dzhagafar Bagov of Zeyko aul, the Khabezsky District. I am a Circassian, I know Russian well," he said. During the defense of the Brest Fortress, Dzhagafar Bagov fought bravely, killed many of the fascist barbarians. "I served with Bagov in the same platoon at the same time," recalls Grigory, a survivor who lived in the city of Alma-Ata. "He was a fearless man with a big heart! He never lost heart, his cheerful mood raised the spirits of soldiers-warriors. Sometimes the bombardment of the fortress did not stop for days, and when Bagov sang the soldiers' mood lifted." The Nazis, taking a convenient position, continuously fired at the fortress. Border guards repeatedly tried to get close to enemy tanks, but failed. In this day Dzhagafar showed great courage and heroism. After putting down several fascist soldiers and officers, he crawled close to the tank and threw two grenades, but then another tank crawls at him. He pulled out the last grenade and, wiping away the blood, gathered his strength and threw the grenade under the German tank. There was a terrible explosion, and Dzhagafar fell unconscious to the ground.
For his heroism, courage and bravery, he received two Orders of the Red Banner and many medals.
