He was born on March 21, 1925, in the city of Stavropol, Stavropol Region. In 1933, he entered school and in the 1940-1941 graduated from 7 classe of the 250th Secondary School, Oktyabrsky District of the city of Leningrad. On 01.09.1941, he entered the Leningrad River Technical School at the Hydrotechnical Department, but due to the difficult family situation and the siege of Leningrad, he was forced to leave school and go to work. On March 17, 1942, for health reasons, he left work, and on March 25, 1942, the Oktyabrsky District Military Commissariat of the city of Leningrad was evacuated from Leningrad with echelon #101. He arrived in the city of Stavropol on April 15, 1942. He was drafted into the Soviet Army on January 28, 1943, and sent to the 127th Guards Cavalry Regiment, 30th Guards Cavalry Division. From February 7, 1943 to August 30, 1943, he served in the 127th Guards Cavalry Regiment, the 30th Guards Cavalry Division, the 4th Guards Kuban Cavalry Cossack Corps, the Southern Front, as a rider, loader and gunner of the 76-mm guns of the regimental battery. From August 30, 1943 to October 22, 1943, seriosli wounded he was treated in the evacuation hospital #5459, Krasnodar Region, Novo-Kubansky District, village "Khutorok". There in the hospital, he met a nurse Maria Korenkova, who in the future became his wife.
