Emelyanov Vasily Sergeevich, was born on September 25, 1919, in Kirovograd. He was drafted into the Soviet Army in 1939 from the city of Kharkiv, served in the Odessa military district, in a tank unit as a t-34 driver. Participated in military operations to liberate Bessarabia from the Romanian occupation. The beginning of the War in 1941 found him in the city of Nikolaev. The tank unit where he served held the defense, but was defeated by the enemy. The unit was returned to Kharkiv for re-formation, where it was equipped with equipment and created 2 tank brigades for the defense of the city of Kharkiv. On the other front line were 4 German Panzer divisions. There were heavy battles, the city of Kharkiv changed hands twice, and as a result, our tank units were defeated. He continued to fight in the infantry division. In 1942, he was wounded, and on his return from the hospital to the army, he fought near Voronezh on the Steppe front. Since August 1943, he again serves in a tank unit, takes part in the liberation of his native Kharkiv. After difficult battles for the city, the unit moves further to Kiev. At the end of December 1943, as part of the 1st Ukrainian front under the command of army General Nikolai Fedorovich Vatutin, he participated in the Korsun-Shevchenko operation. In the battle, his tank was hit again, and again wounded. After treatment, the red army man is transferred to ZIS-5 and entrusted to carry the guard of General Vatutin. In 1944, again in a tank division, he participated in the liberation of the Polish cities of Lublin and Radom, for which his division was awarded the title of Guards Radom. In these battles, the tank is hit again, again in the infantry and again wounded, hospital and again to the front. In May 1945, he reached Berlin on a tank, signed on the Brandenburg gate "We are from Kharkiv!". After the Victory day, he was sent to continue his service in the garrison, which was stationed on the island of rügen, Germany, where he was on combat duty to detain saboteurs from German submarines still cruising in Baltic waters until 1946. He finished his service in 1947 in Konigsberg, in the song and dance ensemble of the Baltic military district. Passing the stages of the combat path, he received 4 injuries, 2 of which were severe. For participation in combat operations has awards: "Order of Glory" III degree and II degree, "Order of the red banner", "Order of the red Star", medals" for bravery "and "for military merit". In January 1970 he was awarded jubilee medals: "Twenty years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945", "50 years of the Armed Forces of the USSR". He died on September 19, 1981 and was buried in the city of Yenakievo.
