History:_x000D_ Fotiy Morozov (1919-1984) - Ace pilot, Colonel of the Soviet Army, participant of the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union (1943)._x000D_ Fotiy Morozov was born on December 27, 1919 in the village of Sukhaya Orcha (now Rzhevsky District, Tver Region). Since 1925, together with his family, he lived in Moscow, where he graduated from eight classes of school and the school of factory apprenticeship, after which he worked as a fitter at a factory. In parallel with his work, he was engaged in an Air Club. In 1938, Morozov was called up to serve in the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. In 1940, he graduated from the Borisoglebsk Military Aviation School of Pilots. Since June 1941 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War._x000D_ By July 1943, Guards First Lieutenant Fotiy Morozov was Deputy squadron commander of the 31st Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 6th Guards Fighter Air Division of the 8th Air Army of the Southern Front. By that time, he had made 432 sorties, participated in 52 air battles, shot down 9 enemy aircraft personally and 5 more in a group._x000D_ Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 28 September 1943 for "Exemplary performance of command assignments at the front against the German invaders and displaying courage and heroism" Guard Lieutenant Fotiy Morozov was awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union and the Order of Lenin and medal Gold Star #1139._x000D_ He was wounded seven times in combat, flew 857 sorties during the war, and conducted about 100 air battles, personally shot down 16 enemy aircraft and 5 in a group. In November 1944, he was demoted to the rank of private for committing a criminal offense, but was later restored to the rank._x000D_ After the end of the war, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army.
