From March to October 1942 - cadet of the infantry school. In October 1942, by order of the People's Commissar of Defense, he received a military rank of Lieutenant._x000D_ In the active army, he was from October 28, 1942 to May 9, 1945 in the 568th Rifle Regiment of the 149th Rifle Division in the following positions: Commander of a machine-gun platoon, Commander of a rifle company, Translator of the regimental headquarters, Intelligence officer of the regiment._x000D_ He fought on the Western, Central and 1st Ukrainian fronts. He participated in the battle of Kursk, in the liberation of the city Dmitrovsk-Orlovskiy and the crossing of the river Desna, Sozh and the Dnieper, in the liberation of the city Novohrad-Volynskiy and Zdolbunov, in the liberation of the cities and towns of Poland, crossed the Vistula river, participated in the fighting on the Annapolisa bridgehead, and then in the breakthrough of the enemy defence near Sandomierz.
