Volkova Maria Georgievna (worker in the rear) was born on December 31, 1926 in the village of Nikolaevka, Balakovsky district, Saratov region. The family was large, the father was an accountant, the mother was a housewife. The family often changed their place of living because of the father’s work. Maria Georgievna graduated from 9 classes at the school of the village of Mayanga, Balakovo district of the region. During the war, she studied at an agricultural college in the village of Ivanovka, from which she graduated in 1945. She was sent to work as an agronomist in the Crimea. The girl decided to continue her education and entered the Volsk Pedagogical Institute. After graduating from it, she left for the Tyumen region. She worked as a mathematics teacher, head teacher, school director. She got married, gave birth to a son. In the late 50s, Maria Georgievna and her family returned to their homelands. Before retirement, she lived and worked as a mathematics teacher in the village of Malaya Bykovka, Balakovo region. The veteran was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945"

Guseva Zoya Nikolaevna (worker in the rear) was born on December 12, 1931 in the village of Voskresenk, Fedorovsky district, Saratov region. She graduated from seven classes of school there. When the war began, Zoya Nikolaevna was only 11. She experienced all the hardships of the war in full. Despite her young age, she worked on the farm with her mother, she was feeding the calves and cleaning up after them. After the end of the war, she became a student at the state bank as an accountant., then studied in the city of Khvalynsk, Saratov region. Later Zoya Nikolaevna worked as an accountant in the village of Pervomayskoye, Fedorovsky district, until her retirement. She got married and gave birth to three children. Being on a well-deserved rest, she continued her labour activity - she worked as an insurance agent. The veteran was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945"

Zaitseva Evdokia Alekseevna (Participant of the Great Patriotic War) was born on June 25, 1920 in the village of Chernava, Ivanteevsky district, Saratov region. She graduated from the 4th grade of a rural school. When she was ten years old, after the death of her mother, she had to leave her studies: she had to work helping her father. Evdokia nursed her younger brother, worked in the garden. It was physically hard for the girl in the field: water for vegetables was carried in buckets, they grew potatoes, dug and loaded bags into cars. Her father was sent to front, and Evdokia Alekseevna went to the front as a volunteer when turned 21 years old. After a short training, she served as an Ordinary Anti-Aircraft Machine gun crew. The girls had to carry heavy weapons and ammunition by themselves. Evdokia was strong, hardy, distinguished by a fighting character, so she was sent to the defence of Leningrad. There she served as an anti-aircraft gunner, worked as a driver on the "road of life." She carried ammunition, medicine and food for the blockade. Twice the shell hit the car, twice it was rescued from the icy water. She was injured. After the hospital, Evdokia returned to the front and fought until Victory. After the end of the war, Evdokia Alekseevna returned to her native village, got married. When her husband died, she moved to the city of Pugachev, Saratov region, worked as a cook in a canteen. The veteran was awarded the Order of the “Patriotic War of 2nd class”, jubilee medals.

Klimov Vasily Yegorovich (worker in the rear) was born on May 7, 1930 in the village of Shlepkin Umet, Zhirnovsky district, Saratov region. He also finished seven years of school there. When the war began, Vasily Yegorovich was eleven years old. As a boy, he worked in the collective farm field, planted vegetable crops, watered and looked after the plants. In the fall he carried sheaves, laid them, and Vasily also had to graze sheep and cows. “By the age of fifteen I was working both as a blacksmith and in the field. It was a difficult time: the work was very hard and I was always hungry”- the veteran recalls. After the war, seventeen-year-old Vasily Yegorovich went to Engels, studied at an evening school, finished the eighth grade there and at the same time learned to be a driver. At the age of eighteen he was drafted into the army. After the service he returned to his native village, worked as a driver. There he met his future wife, later sons were born. They have been living in love and harmony with Nina Vasilievna for 67 years. Soon the family moved to the city of Engels, Saratov region. Vasily Yegorovich got a job as a driver in the mechanization department No. 1, transported bread to the elevator, and other goods. There he worked until his retirement. Komzalov Gennady Ivanovich (worker in the rear) was born on September 8, 1932 in the Ulyanovsk state farm, Rtishchevsky district, Saratov region. The family was large: besides him, three more children were raised. By the beginning of the war, Gennady Ivanovich was not even nine years old. But the hardships fell on the shoulders of the teenager, same with adults’ fate. There were few men left in the village, most of them went to the front, so half-starved women and children had to work in the fields. He worked on a state farm on a harvester. Like everyone, he lived with the hope of Victory, and his relatives’ return. “The war took my father away from me. He died at the front”-the veteran recalls with tears. After the war, Gennady Ivanovich, after finishing eight classes of school, entered the technical school, received the profession of a machine operator. He served in the ranks of the Soviet army. In 1954, he married, the couple raised a son and daughter. In 1991, Gennady Ivanovich was widowed. Prior to retirement, Gennady Komzalov worked as a driver. Alexandra Mikhailovna Milovanova (worker in the rear) was born on November 18, 1923 in the village of Karemsha, Nizhnelomovsky district of the Penza region, in a large family. Before the war, the family moved to the Tula region. During the war years, Alexandra Mikhailovna was able to learn to be an accountant, since 1942 she worked in the regional security office. After the end of the war, the young specialist was invited to work as an accountant at the mine. In 1958, Alexandra Mikhailovna became the chief accountant, and in 1971, the mine was united, she was appointed to be a head of the accounting sector. Over the years of her work, she was repeatedly awarded with Honorary Diplomas of the department for achieving high performance indicators. Alexandra did not have her own family, she lived with her parents. After their death, she moved to live in the village of Zavolzhsky, Saratov region. For almost 40 years she lived with her sister and her family, helped with the housework, knitted warm clothes, scarves. The veteran was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."

Oladyshev Ivan Aleksandrovich (veteran of the Great Patriotic War) was born on March 5, 1927 in the village of Nikolskoye, Volsky district. After leaving school, he learned to be a tractor driver. At the beginning of the war, he worked on a collective farm, at that time he was fifteen years old. In 1944, he was drafted into the army. He served in the NKVD troops, accompanied the prisoners. At the end of 1946, Ivan Alexandrovich was demobilized for health reasons and returned to his native village. He worked as a tractor driver on the “Rassvet” collective farm, then was an operator on a farm. Ivan married in 1947, three sons were born in the family. In 1986, he took a well-deserved rest, but continued to lead an active lifestyle: he planted a vegetable garden, raised horses. When he became a widow and began to fail his health, he decided to move permanently to the Balakovo orphanage. Here Ivan Alexandrovich found his soul mate - Klimova Valentina Pavlovna. On November 26, 2016, the couple registered their marriage. Now the veteran is full of optimism and love of life. He was awarded the medal "For Victory over Germany", jubilee medals.

Polunina Maria Ivanovna (worker in the rear) was born on December 27, 1927 in the village of Koptevka, Ershovsky district, Saratov region. The family was very big: parents and ten children. Their life was nor very rich, but warm and friendly. The girl studied at a local school, graduated from three classes. When the war began, Maria Ivanovna was fourteen years old. Father was taken to the front. It was necessary to help the family, and the state farm did not have enough hands, so the girl went to work. She worked in a pigsty, looked after calves on a farm, helped adults on a vegetable plantation. After the end of the war, it became a little easier, men returned from the front, brigades began to work in the fields, they needed to be fed. Maria Ivanovna began working as a cook and worked until retirement in her chosen profession. The veteran was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945"

Putilin Nikolai Ivanovich (worker in the rear) was born on December 2, 1930 in the village of Agafonovka, St. Petersburg district, Saratov region. When the war began, he was ten years old. The years of his childhood, ended very fast. There were almost no men left in the village, they fought at the front. Nikolai Ivanovich recalls how he worked as a ploughman on a collective farm. They gave him a horse and a plough, he harrowed the ground as he could. A year later he learned to be a tractor driver. “Three years later, I was entrusted with a large tractor. So I had to work from dawn to dawn” -the veteran shares his memories. And when the war ended, he continued to work as a mechanic in his native collective farm. Here he found his family happiness, he brought his wife to his native house, which he repaired himself. The veteran was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945"

Rotanova Anna Andreevna (worker in the rear) was born on February 10, 1929 in the village of Kormezhka, Balakovo region. Before the start of the war, she managed to finish 4 classes of a rural school. She was not even fourteen when she entered factory training and began working at the Saratov Heavy Machine Building Plant, where they produced shells. “The shift lasted for twelve hours. After work, we returned to the hostel. It was cold in the building, we had to heat the room, one by one. We ate poorly ”- Anna Andreevna recalls. After the war she stayed to work at the factory as a turner and got married. Later the family moved to live in Balakovo. She worked in the kindergarten of the Dzerzhinsky plant, then in the canteen. The general work experience of Anna Andreevna Rotanova is 54 years, for her conscientious work she was repeatedly awarded letters of thanks, letters of commendation, jubilee medals, the medal "For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945"
