Volkova Maria Georgievna (worker in the rear) was born on December 31, 1926 in the village of Nikolaevka, Balakovsky district, Saratov region. The family was large, the father was an accountant, the mother was a housewife. The family often changed their place of living because of the father’s work. Maria Georgievna graduated from 9 classes at the school of the village of Mayanga, Balakovo district of the region. During the war, she studied at an agricultural college in the village of Ivanovka, from which she graduated in 1945. She was sent to work as an agronomist in the Crimea. The girl decided to continue her education and entered the Volsk Pedagogical Institute. After graduating from it, she left for the Tyumen region. She worked as a mathematics teacher, head teacher, school director. She got married, gave birth to a son. In the late 50s, Maria Georgievna and her family returned to their homelands. Before retirement, she lived and worked as a mathematics teacher in the village of Malaya Bykovka, Balakovo region. The veteran was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945"
