Klimov Vasily Yegorovich (worker in the rear) was born on May 7, 1930 in the village of Shlepkin Umet, Zhirnovsky district, Saratov region. He also finished seven years of school there. When the war began, Vasily Yegorovich was eleven years old. As a boy, he worked in the collective farm field, planted vegetable crops, watered and looked after the plants. In the fall he carried sheaves, laid them, and Vasily also had to graze sheep and cows. “By the age of fifteen I was working both as a blacksmith and in the field. It was a difficult time: the work was very hard and I was always hungry”- the veteran recalls. After the war, seventeen-year-old Vasily Yegorovich went to Engels, studied at an evening school, finished the eighth grade there and at the same time learned to be a driver. At the age of eighteen he was drafted into the army. After the service he returned to his native village, worked as a driver. There he met his future wife, later sons were born. They have been living in love and harmony with Nina Vasilievna for 67 years. Soon the family moved to the city of Engels, Saratov region. Vasily Yegorovich got a job as a driver in the mechanization department No. 1, transported bread to the elevator, and other goods. There he worked until his retirement. The veteran was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labour in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”
