Euphretor. Division: 13th Guards Rifle Division of the Poltava Order of Lenin twice Red Banner Division of the Orders of Suvorov and Kutuzov. Korzh Grigory Vasilyevich, was born on May 3, 1923 in Paryshkov village of Baryshevsky district of Kiev region. When on June 21, 1941 in Paryshkov village there was a graduation party (Korzh Grigory was among the graduates), the capital of Ukraine was already bombed by fascists. Having received their matriculation certificates, boys and girls walked around the village, sang songs, dreamed of the future... And in the morning, all boys born in 1923-1924 received subpoenas from the military committee. Korzh Grigory was enlisted in the 13th Guards Division under the command of A.I. Rodimtsev and participated in the Battle of Stalingrad, liberated Mamaev Mound. For his participation in the Battle of Stalingrad Guards euphretor Korzh G.V. was awarded the medal "For the Defense of Stalingrad" and a thanking letter signed by Stalin. He reached Poland with the glorious division. In 1944 Korzh G.V. was sent to Chkalovskoye twice Red Banner anti-aircraft artillery school named after S.Ordzhonikidze. In 1946, he was demobilized and settled in the village Saraktash Chkalovsky (now Orenburg) region. For more than 25 years he worked in Saraktash Regional Department of Internal Affairs as the Senior Operative Officer of OBCC. He retired in the rank of police major. Korzh G.V. died in 1984. The front-line poet S. Gudzenko very accurately said about my great-grandfather’s generation in his poem: ... It is our destiny, it is with her we fought and sang, rose to the attack and tore bridges over the Bug. There is no need to feel sorry for us: we would not feel sorry for anybody. We are clean before our Russia, as before God.
