In one of the battles, he was seriously wounded in the leg and was taken to hospital. He was presented to the Medal "For the Defense of Moscow" and, after recovery, was sent to a tank school. But he did not finish it - the battle for Stalingrad began and the cadets took part in the battles. They fought in the Separate Training Battalion of the 36 Guard Riffle Division (Colonel Denisenko) of the Stalingrad Front. For heroism in battles (personally pulled out of the battlefield 12 fighters and 3 commanders, destroyed 1 enemy sniper) Guards cadet was presented to the medal "For Courage," but the unit commander sent him in the presentation of the Order of the Red Star, which he received in November 1942, as well as the title of Jr. Lieutenant of Tank Forces and assignment to the 2nd Guards Tank Division (Major-General Filippov), 2nd Guards Tank Division. Mechanized Corps (General Sviridov). With this corps of 4 Guard Tank Army (Lieutenant General Lelyushenko), he fought for the liberation of Ukraine, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Czechoslovakia. The battle way was also marked with the orders of the "Battle Red Banner", "Patriotic War" of the 1st degree, medals: "For bravery", "For combat services", "For the defense of Stalingrad", "For the capture of Budapest", "For the capture of Vienna", "For the liberation of Prague", "For the victory over Germany”. During the war he received 3 heavy and 2 light wounds. He finished the war on May 12, 1945 in Prague, the last liberated city of Europe during World War II. Already in peacetime, he participated in the first exercises to overcome the radioactive terrain and underwater tank driving. He received an increased share of radiation. He was awarded the second Order of the Red Star, medals: "30-40-50-60 years to the Armed Forces of the USSR", "20-30-40 years of Victory over Germany", "For 20 years of impeccable service". He finished his service in the Armed Forces of the USSR in 1964 due to health reasons in the rank of Major - and the post of Chief of chemical service of the unit.
