Sentenced: to 3 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property in favor of the state. Released before the war. In 1942, he was mobilized to the front. Being an age-old grandfather who passed the PMV, German captivity and camps, he enjoyed authority among young fighters, although he served as a private...He told how he fed his colleagues a fallen horse when there were food shortages on the front line - they could not overcome their disgust for carrion... But war is war... Yes, when Timofey Vakhtin was fighting at the front, his wife-Olimpiada - was also in the camp, on charges that she dug up a bucket of potatoes in her garden in order to feed my grandfather (the law on three spikelets). The commander was informed that Vakhtin had once questioned a captured Fritz...so Timofey Vakhtin also became a translator, participating in interrogations of prisoners and languages. In gratitude for this, the commander of the unit petitioned for the release of his wife from the camp... Of the military awards, my great-great-grandfather had only one: the medal "for bravery" from 27.02.1945, received for personal courage in the battles for the city of Budapest. The feat consisted in the fact that being a loader of a mortar under enemy fire destroyed two enemy machine guns... I think that there were more exploits, but the reputation of the anti-Soviet, I think, played a role in the fact that the medal was one... The wife from the camp, thanks to the request of the commander, was released early and even given a house from the collective farm (not the one that was taken, of course, but still)... My grandfather was rehabilitated on August 17, 1989 by the Uralvo military Prosecutor's office. His son, Anton Timofeyevich, also fought, was wounded, and died early. My grandfather, born in 1932, a home front worker - during the great Patriotic war, he also worked for the front as a child.
