Type of troops: technical troops (KHV, zhdv, AB, RTV, DV, topographic). Volkov Ya. I. was born in d. Elbarusovo of Pokrovskaya volost of Cheboksary uyezd on April 25, 1892. Education: 3 classes of Togaevsky parish school. Drafted into the First World war in 1915. He served in the 98th Yuriev rifle regiment as a Junior non-commissioned officer. For military services, he was awarded the St. George cross, 2nd class. From 1919 to 1921, he was a red army soldier in the Russian red Army. Dismissed on demobilization in 1921. In the 30s, he was one of the organizers of collective farms in the Mariinsko-Posadsky district. From 1933 to 1935, he headed the collective farm "Socialism". On October 1, 1942, he was called up for the Great Patriotic war. He fought as part of the 1st Belorussian front with the 116 Separate road maintenance battalion. Awarded with badges: "Excellent road worker" (13.08.1943), "Excellent sapper", medals" for military merit", "for the liberation of Warsaw", "for the capture of Berlin", "for the Victory over Germany 1941-1945". Jubilee medal: "XX years of Victory in the great Patriotic war of 1941 - 1945", "25 years of Victory in the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945", "XXX years of Victory in the great Patriotic war of 1941-1945", "50 years Armed Forces of USSR". Participant of the parade of the victorious Armies in Berlin. Retired on August 14, 1945. After the war, ya. I.
