I celebrated Victory Day on May 9, 1945 in Berlin. “We were happy, hugged each other, congratulated, but the war was still going on. In Berlin there were battles for every street, for every house, every floor ... No, no, yes, and German soldiers came out with weapons in their hands, some surrendered, others fired. And the loss of comrades-in-arms after the declaration of victory over Germany was a bitter and insulting moment ... ”- the father recalled. Our family is lucky. Father returned from the war in the fall of 1945 alive and well. His tunic was decorated with the Order of the Red Star, medals "For Military Merit", "For the Liberation of Warsaw", "For the Capture of Konigsberg", "For Courage", "For the Taking of Berlin", "For Victory over Germany." Having settled in his former place, he worked as a miner until he retired in 1964. His photograph, along with other production leaders, has always hung on the Hall of Fame in the Red Corner of the factory. Dad did not like to talk about the war, he said that war is a terrible force that spares neither children, nor the elderly, nor women, and it is better for us not to see this. But every year he anxiously waited and prepared for the Victory Day. Participated in the celebrations, laid flowers at the monument to the fallen soldiers in the Second World War in the village. Buribai. Now we, his children and grandchildren, are fulfilling this mission and will never forget the feat of the older generation in the name of life.
