Aurov Alexander Petrovich

CITY: Vladimir region, the city of Murom DATE OF BIRTH: 02/20/1922 DATE OF DEATH: 02/12/1985 HISTORY: Alexander Petrovich Aurov (02/20/1922 - 02/12/1985). Aurov Alexander Petrovich was born on February 20, 1922 in the city of Murom, Vladimir region. On June 24, 1941, he left the first year of the Faculty of Chemistry of G. Lobachevsky volunteered for the front. Was sent to the 129th Infantry Division. One of the most memorable battles in his recollections was the defense of Smolensk in July 1941. The 129th division, which approached the city on July 16, received the task of taking up defenses along the Dnieper River. Until July 20, the 129th division bore the brunt of the defensive battles in this direction. With an extreme shortage of artillery, mortars and machine guns, with a poor supply of ammunition, the division fighters repeatedly rushed into the German positions on the northern outskirts of Smolensk, but they had nothing to gain a foothold in the occupied territory. For the heroism shown, Sergeant A.P. Aurov was nominated for the medal "For Courage". Enemy counterattacks each time forced the division to retreat to its original positions. On the night of July 22-23, the enemy managed to cross to the left bank of the Dnieper near the cemetery, at the junction of the territories of the 129th and 152nd rifle divisions, after which fierce street battles erupted. On July 28, the situation on the front of the 20th Army became sharply complicated. The Germans managed to break through the defenses. As a result, the 152nd Rifle Division and part of the 129th were under the threat of encirclement. The 16th Army had to finally leave Smolensk and withdraw, which was done on the night of July 28-29. Aurov Alexander Petrovich with the fighters were the last to leave the city. In memory of this defense of Smolensk, a memorial plaque was installed on the railway station building. During the withdrawal, the division's standard-bearer was killed, the division's banner was lost, the reconnaissance group headed by Alexander Petrovich returned to the abandoned city and recaptured the division's banner from the Nazis, for which A.P. Aurov. was presented to the Order of the Red Banner. On the night of 7-8 August, the division moved to the Bobrovo area. As of August 29, it defended itself northeast of Klemyatino and further along the Ustrom River to the mouth of the Trubelnya River. On October 7, the Germans broke through to Vyazma and surrounded the troops of the 19th, 20th, 24th, 32nd armies, thereby forming the "Vyazemsky pot". Only some of them managed to break through the encirclement front and reach their own. Aurov Alexander Petrovich could not go out to his own people and, together with the soldiers, joined the partisan detachment of Nikifor Zakharovich Kolyada (partisan pseudonym - "Batya"). In April-May 1942, his troops killed more than 1.8 thousand enemy soldiers and liberated 230 settlements. For military operations as part of a partisan detachment, Alexander Petrovich Aurov was awarded the Order of Glory, III degree. During the rescue of the commander from the battlefield, Alexander Petrovich was seriously wounded, as a result of which gangrene of the right hand developed. The arm was amputated in the field. After a while, he was transferred to the front line to his own. Demobilized for disability in October 1942. After demobilization, he gave up the disability of the 1st group, received a higher education and worked as an engineer until retirement for the benefit of his homeland. Had a number of patents and inventions. He died on February 12, 1985 from extensive myocardial infarction. Buried in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region.
