CITY: city of Osipovichi, Mogilev region, Belarus DATE OF BIRTH: 07/29/1926 DATE OF DEATH: - HISTORY: Title: Lieutenant. Type of troops: Technical troops (KhV, ZhDV, AV, RTV, DV, topographic). From the memoirs of Pyotr Frantsevich: “At the age of 17 I was already drafted into the army and was sent to the school of junior commanders. who fought the Bandera gangs. It was not easy to fight them. At the front you see the enemy, at least you know where he is - it's easier, and when they shoot at you from around the corner, or from the window of any house, this feeling is not pleasant Fortunately, after 3 months I turned 18 years old and I was sent to the 1st Belorussian Front, where I was assigned to the unit as the commander of a topographic reconnaissance group. In the unit I was accepted as one of my own, despite the fact that the group already experienced, fired on, soldiers who had been in various front-line alterations. It made me happy. I was accepted as a young, not fired commander as an old comrade. My first battle. Ahead was the crossing of the Narew River - this is a large river, a tributary of the Vistula,to cross the Narew River with the advance units and by radio to give the contours of the lines occupied by our troops, so that their own artillery does not cover their own with fire. The crossing was mainly by boats, but as soon as the crossing began, the Germans opened heavy artillery fire along the river, and fired at the entire opposite bank with automatic machine-gun fire. One boat after another began to turn over. Me and my four soldiers sailed in the boat with the machine gunner. Already at the very shore, our boat was knocked out, it overturned, the wounded soldiers began to sink, and my assistant and I remained unharmed. We pulled out, not allowing the Germans to reach the shore, and at that time the rest of the boats began to dock. Some reached by swimming and thus, the bridgehead was captured. For this operation, I received my first combat award. Then I could not even imagine that three wounds, three awards awaited me, and it is sad that many good comrades would be lost. This is how the soldier fought, enduring all the hardships of the front, fought so that peace would come and that day would come on May 9, 1945"
