Lipnev Nikolay Ivanovich
DATE OF BIRTH: 01.01.1918 DATE OF DEATH: 08.08.1963 HISTORY: Title: Captain 2nd rank. Type of troops: the USSR Navy and the Naval Forces of the NKVD border troops. During the Great Patriotic War, Lipnev Nikolai Ivanovich, after graduating from the naval school Frunze in Leningrad, was sent to serve as the commander of a combat boat in Novorossiysk. Nikolai Ivanovich, commanding a flagship boat, took part in the liberation of the cities of Novorossiysk, Sevastopol, Odessa, and then all countries along the Danube River. He was wounded twice, drowned, but saved the entire crew. He was awarded three Orders of the Red Banner, three Orders of the Red Star and twelve medals. Residents of Vienna, as a token of gratitude, presented Nikolai Ivanovich with a commemorative sword. Klim Voroshilov himself hosted the Victory Parade on his flagship boat in Budapest. After the end of the war, a book about military exploits was published, which included a story about Nikolai Ivanovich, who is called "Lieutenant Lipnev". Raisa Alekseevna, the wife of Nikolai Ivanovich, donated this book to the museum of border troops in the hero city of Odessa. In the postwar years, Nikolai Ivanovich graduated from the Military Academy named after Voroshilov in Leningrad and then, with the rank of captain of the 2nd rank, served in the Northern Fleet. When the USSR tested an atomic bomb in the Novaya Zemlya region, its ship was directly in the area of nuclear tests (as part of the cordon). While on duty, Nikolai Ivanovich was irradiated and died 2 years later. He was then only 43 years old. He kept the history of his radiation exposure a secret. Our family learned about the real events quite recently from colleagues. Nikolai Ivanovich was an intelligent, extremely modest and decent person. I am proud of my grandfather Nikolai Ivanovich Lipnev, who honestly served his Motherland during and after the war!
