Division: 315th rifle Melitopol Red Banner Tikhon Fomich Kravchenko was born on the 13th of August, 1906 in the village of Berestovka, Lipo-Dalinsky district, Sumy region in Ukraine in the family of a peasant Kravchenko Foma Andreevich and Anna Ivanovna. His parents died when Tikhon Fomich was 8 years old and he was an orphan. From Ukraine, he came to the Orenburg region in the village of Rozhdestvenka, Burtinsky district in 1924. Tikhon Fomich was drafted into the army on mobilization in December 1941. In January 1942, he was enlisted in the 125th rifle regiment. During this period, as part of the 125th rifle regiment, Tikhon Fomich took part in the battles near Voronezh and the Kursk region. Since August 1943, he was enlisted in the 180th rifle regiment as a rifleman. On the 23rd of October, 1943, he was severely wounded in the left shoulder blade in a battle in Ukraine. After the hospital, he returned to the front and in March 1944 enlisted in the 315th Guards rifle regiment as a Rifleman. He took part in the liberation of the cities of Ukraine: Uman, Vapnyarka, Feodosia, the Carpathian Ridge, Sevastopol (Russia), Marovskaya Islands (Czech Republic), Nowy Targ (Poland). For excellent combat actions in the battles for the liberation of Olomouc (Czech Republic), Bogumin (Czech Republic), Cieszyn (Poland), a commendation was announced from the Supreme Commander of the Marshal of the Soviet Union, comrade Stalin. Tikhon Fomich reached Berlin and returned home in December 1945. He was awarded the order of the Red Star, the medal for bravery, the medal for victory over Germany, and the order of the Patriotic War. In General, Tikhon Fomich did not talk about the War, it was not accepted to ask questions in his family, because he was very worried. After the War, he returned to his native village, where his wife Maria and four children were waiting for him. He worked on the collective farm for more than 30 years. Together with his wife, he raised six children. Tikhon Fomich died on March 3, 1990.
